Antibiogram of Multidrug-Resistant Isolates of Pseudomonas aeruginosa after Biofield Treatment

Mahendra Kumar Trivedi, Alice Branton, Dahryn Trivedi, Gopal Nayak, Harish Shettigar, Mayank Gangwar & Snehasis Jana
In recent years, prevalence of multidrug resistance (MDR) in Pseudomonas aeruginosa (P. aeruginosa) has been noticed with high morbidity and mortality. Aim of the present study was to determine the impact of Mr. Trivedi’s biofield treatment on MDR clinical lab isolates (LS) of P. aeruginosa. Five MDR clinical lab isolates (LS 22, LS 23, LS 38, LS 47, and LS 58) of P. aeruginosa were taken and divided into two groups i.e. control and biofield...

A Global Optimality Criterion for Nonconvex Quadratic Programming over a Simplex

Ivo Nowak
In this paper we propose a global optimality criterion for globally minimizing a quadratic form over the standard simplex, which in addition provides a sharp lower bound for the optimal value. The approach is based on the solution of a semidefinite program (SDP) and a convex quadratic program (QP). Since there exist fast (polynomial time) algorithms for solving SDP's and QP's the computational time for checking the global optimality criterion and for computing the lower...

Objectives: Habitual fish consumption and its determinants in older people have not been well investigated. We addressed these issues through a population-based cohort study. Methods: In 2001-2003 we interviewed a random sample of 3336 residents aged ≥60 years in China, documenting socioeconomic status (SES) and disease risk factors. In 2007-2009 we re-interviewed 1757 survivors, additionally surveying average self-reported intake of fish over the past two years. Results: Of 1757 participants, 1697 responded to the fish...

Theory and practice of the Ordnungspolitik in the social market economy in Germany

Sergey Nevskiy , Nils Goldschmidt & Natalia Supyan
The first post-war decades for West Germany were marked by a rapid economic recovery, which, despite the devastating catastrophe of the Second World War and the ensuing split of the state, quickly returned the country to the number of highly developed industrial nations of the world. The monetary and economic reforms carried out in 1948 made it possible not only to lay the foundations of monetary and financial stability, to increase incentives for the growth...

P3.3 - Multilagen-Mikrofluidikplattform für die Zellkultivierung mit integrierter Dickschichtsensorik

M. Busek, S. Grünzner, V. Franke & F. Sonntag

Airport emissions reductions from reduced thrust takeoff operations

GS Koudis, SJ Hu, A Majumdar, Roderic Jones & MEJ Stettler
Given forecast aviation growth, many airports are predicted to reach capacity and require expansion. However, pressure to meet air quality regulations emphasises the importance of efficient ground-level aircraft activities to facilitate growth. Operational strategies such as reducing engine thrust setting at takeoff can reduce fuel consumption and pollutant emissions; however, quantification of the benefits and consistency of its use have been limited by data restrictions. Using 3336 high-resolution flight data records, this paper analyses the...

The weighted energy-dissipation principle and evolutionary Γ-convergence for doubly nonlinear problems

Matthias Liero & Stefano Melchionna
We consider a family of doubly nonlinear evolution equations that is given by families of convex dissipation potentials, nonconvex energy functionals, and external forces parametrized by a small parameter ε. For each of these problems, we introduce the so-called weighted energy-dissipation (WED) functional, whose minimizer correspond to solutions of an elliptic-in-time regularization of the target problems with regularization parameter δ. We investigate the relation between the Γ-convergence of the WED functionals and evolutionary Γ-convergence of...
