Supplementary material from \"Strong host phylogenetic and ecological effects on host competency for avian influenza in Australian wild birds\"

Michelle Wille, Simeon Lisovski, David Roshier, Marta Ferenczi, Bethany J. Hoye, Trent Leen, Simone Warner, Ron A. M. Fouchier, Aeron C. Hurt, Edward C. Holmes & Marcel Klaassen
Host susceptibility to parasites is mediated by intrinsic and external factors such as genetics, ecology, age and season. While waterfowl are considered central to the reservoir community for low pathogenic avian influenza A viruses (LPAIV), the role of host phylogeny has received limited formal attention. Herein, we analysed 12 339 oropharyngeal and cloacal swabs and 10 826 serum samples collected over 11 years from wild birds in Australia. As well as describing age and species-level...

Late Quaternary terrigenous sediment supply into the Drake Passage in response to ice dynamics

Shuzhuang Wu, Gerhard Kuhn, Helge Wolfgang Arz, Lester Lembke-Jene, Ralf Tiedemann, Frank Lamy & Bernhard Diekmann
The investigated sediment records were retrieved from site PS97/085 in the central Drake Passage, including high-resolution grain size, clay mineral assemblages, geochemical and magnetic properties. Our records reveal terrigenous sediment supply in the Drake Passage is mainly derived from the southeast Pacific, southern South America and the Antarctic Peninsula. We suggest that the Antarctic Circumpolar Current (ACC) has served as the key driver for sediment dispersal in the Drake Passage. Furthermore, our high-resolution marine records...

High-resolution bathymetry models for the Lena Delta and the Kolyma Gulf regions

Matthias Fuchs, Juri Palmtag, Bennet Juhls, Pier Paul Overduin, Guido Grosse, Ahmed Abdelwahab, Michael Bedington, Tina Sanders, Olga Ogneva, Irina V Fedorova, Nikita S Zimov, Paul James Mann & Jens Strauss
This data set includes spatial high-resolution bathymetry data sets for the Lena Delta and Kolyma Gulf regions. Based on large-scale current and historical nautical maps, depth points and isobaths lines were manually digitized and served as input data for the bathymetry models. The models were calculated with the topo to raster tool in ArcGIS TM version 10.6 into a 50 m (TTR50) and a 200 m (TTR200) grid cell bathymetry for both regions. The models...

Hydroacoustic and Sediment data collected during AL-519/1 in January 2019 in the German Bight

Finn Mielck & Werner Armonies
During the research cruise AL-519-1 with RV Alkor the effects of dredging measures in an extraction site west off Sylt (German Bight) were investigated. Here, sandy material was extracted since 1984 for beach nourishment on the Island of Sylt. The extraction site lies approx. 7 km west of Sylt and has an extend of 5.5 km*3 km with water depths between 13 and 32 m. The investigations took place in January 2019 and lasted about...
