The impact of hydrothermal alteration on the physiochemical characteristics of reservoir rocks: the case of the Los Humeros geothermal field (Mexico)

Leandra M. Weydt, Federico Lucci, Alicja Lacinska, Dirk Scheuvens, Gerardo Carrasco-Núñez, Guido Giordano, Christopher A. Rochelle, Stefanie Schmidt, Kristian Bär & Ingo Sass
Abstract Hydrothermal alteration is a common process in active geothermal systems and can significantly change the physiochemical properties of rocks. To improve reservoir assessment and modeling of high-temperature geothermal resources linked to active volcanic settings, a detailed understanding of the reservoir is needed. The Los Humeros Volcanic Complex, hosting the third largest exploited geothermal field in Mexico, represents a natural laboratory to investigate the impact of hydrothermal processes on the rock properties through andesitic reservoir...

Seismic velocity variation at Mt. Etna calculated by seismic ambient noise interferometry (EtnadVv)

Pınar Büyükakpınar, Andrea Cannata, Flavio Cannavò, Raphael De Plaen & Thomas Lecocq
The raw seismic data is band-pass filtered between 1.0-2.0 Hz, down-sampled from 100 to 20 Hz, and de-trended. Daily traces is segmented into 1-hr windows, winsorizing (clipping) at 3 Root Mean Square (RMS), and spectral whitening in the 1.0–2.0 Hz frequency band is applied before cross-correlation (Bensen et al., 2007; Lecocq et al., 2014). The resulting daily CCFs are then stacked using the time-frequency phase-weighted stacking method (tf-PWS; Schimmel & Paulssen, 1997) for 1,5,10,30 days...

MarineMetagenomeDB: a public repository for curated and standardized metadata for marine metagenomes

Abstract Background Metagenomics is an expanding field within microbial ecology, microbiology, and related disciplines. The number of metagenomes deposited in major public repositories such as Sequence Read Archive (SRA) and Metagenomic Rapid Annotations using Subsystems Technology (MG-RAST) is rising exponentially. However, data mining and interpretation can be challenging due to mis-annotated and misleading metadata entries. In this study, we describe the Marine Metagenome Metadata Database (MarineMetagenomeDB) to help researchers identify marine metagenomes of interest for...

NEAM Tsunami Hazard Model 2018 (NEAMTHM18): online data of the Probabilistic Tsunami Hazard Model for the NEAM Region from the TSUMAPS-NEAM project

The NEAM Tsunami Hazard Model 2018 (NEAMTHM18) is a probabilistic hazard model for tsunamis generated by earthquakes. It covers the coastlines of the North-East Atlantic, the Mediterranean, and connected Seas (NEAM). In this online data product, the hazard results are provided by hazard curves calculated at 2,343 Points of Interest (POI), distributed in the North-East Atlantic (1,076 POIs), the Mediterranean Sea (1,130 POIs), and the Black Sea (137 POIs) at an average spacing of ~20...
