Data integration and evolutionary analysis of long non-coding RNAs in 25 flowering plants
Shiye Sang, Wen Chen, Di Zhang, Xuan Zhang, Wenjing Yang & Changning Liu
Abstract Background Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) play vital roles in many important biological processes in plants. Currently, a large fraction of plant lncRNA studies center at lncRNA identification and functional analysis. Only a few plant lncRNA studies focus on understanding their evolutionary history, which is crucial for an in-depth understanding of lncRNAs. Therefore, the integration of large volumes of plant lncRNA data is required to deeply investigate the evolution of lncRNAs. Results We present a...

Introduction:Venovenous extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (VV ECMO) is now considered a reasonable option to salvage acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). However, we lack a rodent model for experimental studies. This study was undertaken to establish an animal model of VV ECMO in ARDS rats. Methods:A total of 18 Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats (350 ± 50 g) were used in this study. Using a rat model of oleic acid (OA)-induced ARDS, VV ECMO was established through cavoatrial cannulation of...

Effectiveness of electroacupuncture for thin endometrium in infertile women: study protocol for a single-blind, randomized controlled trial
Fangyuan Li, Hua Lu, Xinxin Wang, Qi Zhang, Qianchen Liu & Tong Wang
Abstract Background Thin endometrium negatively impacts the reproductive function. Current treatments for thin endometrium do not always improve endometrial receptivity. Preliminary evidence suggests that electroacupuncture could have potential therapy for thin endometrium in infertile women. Thus, this randomized controlled trial was designed to test whether electroacupuncture can improve endometrial receptivity in infertile women with thin endometrium. Methods This study is a randomized, single-blinded, controlled, clinical trial. A total of 142 eligible patients will be recruited...
Loneliness Among Chinese Older Adults: The Role of Grandparenthood and Grandparental Childcare by Gender
Jing Zhang, Tineke Fokkema & Bruno Arpino
This study examines the influence of grandparenthood and grandparental childcare on loneliness among Chinese older adults. Using longitudinal data from a nationally representative sample of 9240 individuals from the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS), we applied logistic regression to examine the relationship between various grandparental statuses and loneliness with a focus on gender. The grandparental role is a protective factor for loneliness. Providing care to grandchildren was associated with a lower likelihood of...
Effect of traditional Chinese medicine formula Guilu Xian on in vitro fertilization and embryo transfer outcome in older women with low prognosis: study protocol for a prospective, multicenter, randomized double-blind study
Yingjie Ma, Xianling Cao, Jingyan Song, Dandan Gao, Xinlei Wang, Li Li & Zhengao Sun
Abstract Introduction In recent years, the prevalence of infertility has significantly increased and has become a global reproductive health problem. The female ovarian reserves have been shown to decrease progressively with an increase in age. Besides, the rate of embryo implantation and clinical pregnancy also decreases. Traditional Chinese medicine has been widely applied in assisted reproductive technology. It is reported to have a significant influence on improving the quality of oocytes, improving endometrial receptivity, increasing...

The evolution of collaborative networks: A social network analysis of Chinese environmental protection policy
Yanwei Li & Jing Huang
Interagency collaboration helps governments to better resolve various complex societal problems. This contribution examines the mechanisms underlying the collaboration of disparate national government agencies engaged in Chinese environmental protection. We test three dominant mechanisms, namely, the institutionalization of collaborative networks, resource interdependence and exchange, and preferential attachment. It is concluded that a collaborative network over time becomes cohesive, that national government agencies prefer to collaborate with popular agencies and tend to collaborate with those whose...

Effect of preoperative CT angiography examination on the clinical outcome of patients with BMI ≥ 25.0 kg/m2 undergoing laparoscopic gastrectomy: study protocol for a multicentre randomized controlled trial

Abstract Background Gastric cancer, which is the fifth most common malignancy and the third most common cause of cancer-related death, is particularly predominant in East Asian countries, such as China, Japan and Korea. It is a serious global health issue that causes a heavy financial burden for the government and family. To our knowledge, there are few reports of multicentre randomized controlled trials on the utilization of CT angiography (CTA) for patients who are histologically...
