Improved PUFA Study

Mark Manary, Thomas Brenna, Kenneth Maleta & Richard Canfield
Background There is concern that the PUFA composition of ready-to-use therapeutic food (RUTF) for the treatment of severe acute malnutrition (SAM) is suboptimal for neurocognitive recovery. Objectives We tested the hypothesis that RUTF made with reduced amounts of linoleic acid, achieved using high-oleic (HO) peanuts without added DHA (HO-RUTF) or with added DHA (DHA-HO-RUTF), improves cognition when compared with standard RUTF (S-RUTF).

X-ray computed tomography and simultaneous multi-signal detection for evaluation of thermal runaway of lithium-ion battery

Yan Li, Qiong Wang, Xiao-Xue Lian & Qing-Jun Zhou
Early warning of thermal runaway (TR) scenarios is one of the most effective and important ways to prevent accidents in lithium-ion battery (LIB) safety management. Herein, TR characteristics of 18,650 LIB are carefully investigated using X-ray computed tomography (X-CT) and simultaneously multi-signal method. The results show that after the first gas venting, TR of LIB may not necessarily and spontaneously occur within a certain temperature range. The X-CT reveals that TR originally occurs in the...

We present a methodology for subtyping of persons with a common clinical symptom complex by integrating heterogeneous continuous and categorical data. We illustrate it by clustering women with lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS), who represent a heterogeneous cohort with overlapping symptoms and multifactorial etiology. Data collected in the Symptoms of Lower Urinary Tract Dysfunction Research Network (LURN), a multi-center observational study, included self-reported urinary and non-urinary symptoms, bladder diaries, and physical examination data for 545...
