Dysregulation of Ephrin receptor and PPAR signaling pathways in neural progenitor cells infected by Zika virus

Sathya N. Thulasi Raman, Elyse Latreille, Jun Gao, Wanyue Zhang, Jianguo Wu, Marsha S. Russell, Lisa Walrond, Terry Cyr, Jessie R. Lavoie, David Safronetz, Jingxin Cao, Simon Sauve, Aaron Farnsworth, Wangxue Chen, Pei-Yong Shi, Youchun Wang, Lisheng Wang, Michael Rosu-Myles & Xuguang Li
Zika virus (ZIKV) infection is a serious public threat with cases reported in about 70 countries and territories. One of the most serious consequences of ZIKV infection is congenital microcephaly in babies. Congenital microcephaly has been suggested to result from infection of neural progenitor cells (NPCs) in the developing fetal brain. However, the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying microcephaly development remains to be fully elucidated. In this study, we employed quantitative proteomics to determine protein...

Genome-wide analysis of the GRF gene family and their expression profiling in peach (Prunus persica)

Li Liu, Xiu-jie Li, Bo Li, Ming-yue Sun & Shao-xuan Li
Growth-regulating factors (GRFs) are plant-specific transcription factors with vital roles in multiple biological processes. Although GRFs have been identified in various plant species, a comprehensive analysis of GRF genes in peach (Prunus persica) has not yet been reported. In this study, 10 PpGRF genes distributed on 6 chromosomes were identified in peach genome and their properties were analyzed systematically. Expression pattern analysis suggested that most PpGRFs were preferentially expressed in young tissues. Multiple types of...

Efficacy and safety of osimertinib for patients with EGFR-mutated NSCLC: a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled studies

Li Li, Qin Huang, Jianhai Sun, Fei Yan, Wujie Wei, Zihui Li, Li Liu & Jie Deng
Osimertinib is a recently approved third-generation epidermal growth factor receptor tyrosine kinase inhibitor (EGFR-TKI) that selectively inhibits both EGFR-TKI-sensitizing and EGFR-T790M resistance mutations. The aim of the present meta-analysis was to investigate the efficacy and safety of osimertinib for patients with EGFR-mutated non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Databases were searched for randomized controlled studies that reported the efficacy and safety of osimertinib versus other treatments (chemotherapy, other EGFR-TKIs, etc.) in treating EGFR-mutated NSCLC. The measured effects...

Data from: Differential impacts of vaccination on wildlife disease spread during epizootic and enzootic phases

Erica J. Newton, Bruce A. Pond, Rowland R. Tinline, Kevin Middel, Denise Belanger & Erin E. Rees
1. Dissemination of oral vaccine baits is a cost-effective method to contain and control infectious wildlife diseases. The effectiveness of vaccine barriers in slowing or halting the disease spread depends on host ecology and landscape variability. It is not clear, however, how the success of vaccine barriers to manage disease may change from an epizootic to an enzootic phase of a disease invasion, and if this depends on the quality and configuration of host habitat....
