Variation in host home range size decreases rabies vaccination effectiveness by increasing the spatial spread of rabies virus
Katherine McClure, Amy Gilbert, Richard Chipman, Erin Rees & Kim Pepin
1. Animal movement influences the spatial spread of directly-transmitted wildlife disease through host-host contact structure. Wildlife disease hosts vary in home range-associated foraging and social behaviors, which may increase the spread and intensity of disease outbreaks. The consequences of variation in host home range movement and space use on wildlife disease dynamics are poorly understood, but could help to predict disease spread and determine more effective disease management strategies. 2. We developed a spatially-explicit individual-based...
Detailed preliminary information on cases of COVID-19: 4 Dimensions (Aggregated data), Public Health Agency of Canada
In collaboration with the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC), this table provides Canadians and researchers with preliminary data to monitor only the confirmed cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) in Canada. Given the rapidly-evolving nature of this situation, these data are considered preliminary. This table will provide an aggregate summary of the data displayed in 13-10-0781-01.

Data from: The Salmonella In Silico Typing Resource (SISTR): an open web-accessible tool for rapidly typing and subtyping draft Salmonella genome assemblies
Catherine E. Yoshida, Peter Kruczkiewicz, Chad R. Laing, Erika J. Lingohr, Victor P. J. Gannon, John H. E. Nash & Eduardo N. Taboada
For nearly 100 years serotyping has been the gold standard for the identification of Salmonella serovars. Despite the increasing adoption of DNA-based subtyping approaches, serotype information remains a cornerstone in food safety and public health activities aimed at reducing the burden of salmonellosis. At the same time, recent advances in whole-genome sequencing (WGS) promise to revolutionize our ability to perform advanced pathogen characterization in support of improved source attribution and outbreak analysis. We present the...

Dysregulation of Ephrin receptor and PPAR signaling pathways in neural progenitor cells infected by Zika virus
Sathya N. Thulasi Raman, Elyse Latreille, Jun Gao, Wanyue Zhang, Jianguo Wu, Marsha S. Russell, Lisa Walrond, Terry Cyr, Jessie R. Lavoie, David Safronetz, Jingxin Cao, Simon Sauve, Aaron Farnsworth, Wangxue Chen, Pei-Yong Shi, Youchun Wang, Lisheng Wang, Michael Rosu-Myles & Xuguang Li
Zika virus (ZIKV) infection is a serious public threat with cases reported in about 70 countries and territories. One of the most serious consequences of ZIKV infection is congenital microcephaly in babies. Congenital microcephaly has been suggested to result from infection of neural progenitor cells (NPCs) in the developing fetal brain. However, the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying microcephaly development remains to be fully elucidated. In this study, we employed quantitative proteomics to determine protein...
Data from: Advancing risk assessment: mechanistic dose–response modelling of Listeria monocytogenes infection in human populations
Ashrafur Rahman, Daniel Munther, Aamir Fazil, Ben Smith & Jianhong Wu
The utility of characterizing the effects of strain variation and individual/subgroup susceptibility on dose-response outcomes has motivated the search for new approaches beyond the popular use of the exponential dose-response model for listeriosis. While descriptive models can account for such variation, they have limited power to extrapolate beyond the details of particular outbreaks. In contrast, this study exhibits dose-response relationships from a mechanistic basis, quantifying key biological factors involved in pathogen-host dynamics. An efficient computational...
COVID-19 PHAC Agent-Based Model for age-stratified intervention and herd immunity study
Vanessa Gabriele-Rivet & Victoria Ng
The PHAC agent-based model was used to explore the progression of the COVID-19 epidemic under three intervention scenarios (infection-preventing vaccination, illness-preventing vaccination and shielding) in individuals above three age thresholds (≥45, ≥55 and ≥65 years) while lifting shutdowns and physical distancing in the community. This data repository contains the PHAC modelling code in Anylogic used for this study.
