P. O. Wennberg, C. M. Roehl, D. Wunch, G. C. Toon, J.-F. Blavier, R. Washenfelder, G. Keppel-Aleks & N. T. Allen
The Total Carbon Column Observing Network (TCCON) is
a network of ground-based Fourier Transform Spectrometers that record direct
solar absorption spectra of the atmosphere in the near-infrared. From these
spectra, accurate and precise column-averaged abundances of atmospheric
constituents including CO2, CH4, N2O, HF, CO, H2O, and HDO, are retrieved. This

UCL CPOM CryoSat2 derived Dynamic Ocean Topography 2011-2021
Harold Heorton
The ocean surface height is constantly varying under the effects of gravity, density and the Earth's rotation. Information on the Ocean surface elevation in polar regions is available from the CryoSat2 Radar instrument. We compare ocean surface elevation to a static geoid product (GOCO03s) to give the part of the ocean surface elevation accountable due to surface currents, the Dynamic Ocean Topography (DOT). This measurement is smoothed over 100 km and gives monthly surface currents....
UCL CPOM CryoSat2 Polar Ocean Significant Wave Height 2011-2019
Harold Heorton
We present the significant ocean surface wave heights in the Arctic and Southern Oceans from CryoSat-2 data. We use a semi-analytical model for an idealised synthetic aperture satellite radar or pulse-limited radar altimeter echo power. We develop a processing methodology that specifically considers both the Synthetic Aperture and Pulse Limited modes of the radar that change close to the sea ice edge within the Arctic Ocean. All CryoSat-2 echoes to date were matched by our...

Raw holograms frames of Bacillus Subtilis at different temperatures
Nikki Johnston, Megan Dubay, Mark Wronkiewicz, Jake Lee, Christian Lindensmith & Jay Nadeau
We describe a system for high-temperature investigations of bacterial motility using a digital holographic microscope completely submerged in heated water. Temperatures above 90 ºC could be achieved, with a constant 5 ºC offset between the sample temperature and the surrounding water bath. Using this system, we observed active motility in Bacillus subtilis up to 66 ºC. As temperatures rose, most cells became immobilized on the surface, but a fraction of cells remained highly motile at...

Version 1 Pilot top-down CO2 Budget constrained by the v10 OCO-2 MIP
Brendan Byrne
This is a pilot dataset of country-specific net carbon exchange (NCE) and terrestrial carbon stock changes aimed at informing countries’ carbon budgets. These estimates are based on “top-down” NCE outputs from version 10 of the Orbiting Carbon Observatory (OCO-2) modeling intercomparison project (MIP), wherein an ensemble of inverse modeling groups conducted standardized experiments assimilating OCO-2 column-averaged dry-air mole fraction (XCO2) retrievals, in situ CO2 measurements, or combinations of these data. The OCO-2 MIP NCE estimates...
