Inne Vanderkelen, Daniel Mercado-Bettin & Jacob Schewe
The data are derived from the HydroLAKES v1.0 (Messager et al., 2016) and GRanD v1.3 (Lehner et al., 2011) databases and rasterized using the polygon_to_cellareafraction tool (Vanderkelen 2021, available on GitHub), and mapped to 0.5 degrees resolution. Time steps represent increasing reservoirs in their construction year, as given by GRanD.

Bresch, Matthias Büchner, , Philippe Ciais, Marie Dury, Kerry Emanuel, Christian Folberth, Dieter Gerten, Simon N. Gosling, Manolis Grillakis, , , Thomas Hickler, Yasushi Honda … & Katja Frieler
ISIMIP2b considers impacts on different sectors at the global and regional scales: water, fisheries and marine ecosystems, energy supply and demand, forests, biomes, agriculture, agro-economics, terrestrial biodiversity, permafrost, coastal systems, health and lakes. There is a collection of sector-specific focus regions for this simulation round. However, simulation data for all world regions are welcomed, as single-model simulations for specific sites allow for model inter-comparison and potentially allow for constraining global models. The focus topic for...

Data from: Machine learning identifies ecological selectivity patterns across the end-Permian mass extinction

William Foster, Georgy Ayzel, Jannes Münchmeyer, Tabea Rettelbach, Niklas Kitzmann, Terry Isson, Maria Mutti & Martin Aberhan
The end-Permian mass extinction occurred alongside a large swathe of environmental changes that are often invoked as extinction mechanisms, even when a direct link is lacking. One way to elucidate the cause(s) of a mass extinction is to investigate extinction selectivity as it can reveal critical information on organismic traits as key determinants of extinction and survival. Here we show that machine learning algorithms, specifically gradient boosted decision trees, can be used to identify determinants...

ISIMIP2a atmospheric climate input data

Stefan Lange & Matthias Büchner
The Inter-Sectoral Impact Model Intercomparison Project (ISIMIP) provides a framework for the collation of a set of consistent, multi-sector, multi-scale climate-impact simulations, based on scientifically and politically relevant historical and future scenarios. This framework serves as a basis for robust projections of climate impacts, as well as facilitating model evaluation and improvement, allowing for advanced estimates of the biophysical and socio-economic impacts of climate change at different levels of global warming. It also provides a...

CHELSA-W5E5 v1.0: W5E5 v1.0 downscaled with CHELSA v2.0

Dirk N. Karger, Stefan Lange, Chantal Hari, Christopher P. O. Reyer & Niklaus E. Zimmermann
The CHELSA-W5E5 dataset was created to serve as observational climate input data for the impact assessments carried out in phase 3a of the Inter-Sectoral Impact Model Intercomparison Project (ISIMIP3a).
Version 1.0 of the CHELSA-W5E5 dataset covers the entire globe at 30 arcsec horizontal and daily temporal resolution from 1979 to 2016. Data sources of CHELSA-W5E5 are version 1.0 of WFDE5 over land merged with ERA5 over the ocean (W5E5; Lange, 2019; Cucchi et al., 2020), the...
