Computer-Guided Design of Photocatalyst for PET-RAFT Polymerisation

Cyrille Boyer
In recent years, the use of photocatalysts (PCs) has found a broad range of applications in polymer synthesis, especially in precise temporal/spatial control, precise sequence control, selective and orthogonal polymerisation systems. The new discovery of PCs for photo-controlled reversible deactivation radical polymerisation (photo-RDRP) was generally performed using an experimental approach, where various PCs were tested. However, the experimental approach requires laborious synthesis work and lack efficiency. With the development of new computational tools, a rational...

Sublethal effects of a rapidly spreading native alga on a key herbivore

Jordi Boada, Daniel Bradley, Tim Glasby, William Gladstone & Paul Gribben
1. Multiple anthropogenic stressors are causing a global decline of foundation species including macrophytes often resulting in the expansion of functionally different more stressor-tolerant macrophytes. Previously subdominant species may experience further positive demographic feedbacks if they are exposed to weaker plant herbivore interactions, possibly via decreased palatability or being structurally different from the species they are replacing. However, the consequences of the spread of opportunistic macrophytes for the local distribution and life-history of herbivores is...

UVic modelling outputs: Version 2

Katrin Meissner, Laurie Menviel & Karin Kvale
This is an updated version of the dataset record (UVic modelling outputs for LGM) with corresponding DOI: https://doi.org/10.26190/5f2b69ff95d8f . The dataset listed here is the output of numerical simulations performed with the UVic earth system climate model of intermediate complexity. It enlists multiple variables of the atmosphere ocean and marine biogeochemistry. The data is obtained by forcing the model under two climate boundary conditions, preindustrial (~1800) and the Last Glacial Maximum (~20ka), and corresponds to...

Danmar Gloria
Project description: An Infrared spectroscopic study of twelve relevant organo-arsenic compounds. We have considered the prediction of the normal mode vibrational frequencies and assignments based on calculations done at the HF, DFT/B3LYP levels of theory for 12 organo-arsenic compounds using 6-311++G(3df,3pd) basis set. The results from this high level of calculation, though not necessary, were corrected using established scale factors.
