The use of virtual reality in the rehabilitation of aphasia: a systematic review
Niamh Devane, Nicholas Behn, Jane Marshall, Aparna Ramachandran, Stephanie Wilson & Katerina Hilari
This systematic review explored how virtual reality (VR) has been used to rehabilitate aphasia. Empirical studies were included where VR was used to target language, well-being, or quality of life in adults with acquired language impairment. Degenerative communication disabilities were excluded. Seven health databases were searched in October 2021. Risk of Bias was assessed using published checklists and completeness of intervention reporting evaluated. Narrative synthesis described forms of VR, rationales given, outcome measures, communication functions...

Lena Wettergren, Lars E. Eriksson, Charlotta Bergström, Christel Hedman, Johan Ahlgren, Karin E. Smedby, Kristina Hellman, Roger Henriksson & Claudia Lampic
Self-reported sex problems among women diagnosed with reproductive and nonreproductive cancers before the age of 40 are not fully understood. This study aimed to determine sexual dysfunction in young women following a cancer diagnosis in relation to women of the general population. Furthermore, to identify factors associated with sexual dysfunction in women diagnosed with cancer. A population-based cross-sectional study with 694 young women was conducted 1.5 years after being diagnosed with cancer (response rate 72%)....

Harmonised variables used in the analysis (Table 1 Menopause status); classification of women into menopause status (Table 2.1, 2.2 Menopause status); descriptive statistics for all variables included in the analysis for each cohort separately (Table 3 Descriptive statistics); univariate and multivariate study specific (Tables 5,6 Study specific) and pooled (Table 4 Pooled...
Monks relax sibling competition over parental resources in Tibetan populations
Liqiong Zhou, Erhao Ge, Alberto Micheletti, Yuan Chen, Juan Du & Ruth Mace
Why parents in some societies induce some of their sons to become religious celibates is an evolutionary puzzle. Some have speculated that this might be associated with brother competition for family resources. However, the behavioral ecology of monks and the possible links with competition between brothers remains unexplored. Here, we use demographic data from Amdo Tibetan agropastoralists in western China to evaluate what factors determine the probability of becoming a monk and explore the possible...
