Lichen herbarium, UiB

Registry-Migration.Gbif.Org
The Lichen Herbarium contains (as per 2014) 90 000 lichens. The majority is from Norway, but there are also larger, important collections of lichens from North America (T. Tønsberg), Bouvet Island and Antarctica (T. Engelskjøn). Important collectors are J.J. Havaas, J.M. Norman (part of his collection) and T. Tønsberg. The entire lichen collection has been data recorded and the c. 50 000 lichens collected in Norway can be searched for in the common”Norsk Lav Database”...

Bryophytes at the Natural History Museum, University of Oslo. The bryophyte herbarium at the Botanical Museum, the University of Oslo, comprises a Norwegian herbarium (ca. 150,000 specimens, of which ca. 100,000 mosses, ca. 15,000 peat mosses and ca. 35,000 hepatics), a general herbarium (ca. 75,000), a type herbarium with ca. 100 types and a collection of older exsiccata (ca. 5,000 specimens). The herbarium contains important material among others from Norway, the Arctic, Macaronesia and Tristan...

The algae herbarium contains about 4 500 specimens, mainly from Norway.

Bryophyte herbarium, Tromsø Museum

F314b0b0-E3dc-11d9-8d81-B8a03c50a862
The bryophyte herbarium at Tromsø Museum. This collection is of varying quality. A large part of the large genus Sphagnum from the Trøndelag area, northern Norway and Svalbard has been revised recently. As the herbarium is being digitized, a lot is being done to improve data quality (taxonomic revision) and the quality of the physical specimens themselves (new labels etc).

Cassava Breeding Trials - Edaphoclimatic Zone 1: Lowland Tropics; Long drought; Low to Medium Precipitation

International Center For Tropical Agriculture
Cassava germplasm development at CIAT is centered on the development of improved gene pools for specific edapho-climatic zones with importance for cassava production. The most relevant ecosystems are the semi-and and sub-humid tropics, for which the majority of efforts are devoted. The main selection activity is conducted in sites selected to represent the conditions of the target ecosystem. For each zone, a recurrent selection program with a progressive set of stages is followed. As the...

Knowledge Gaps between Farmers and Scientists: A Case Study on Perceptions and Knowledge on Arabica Coffee Pests and Diseases of Mount Elgon, Uganda

Theresa Liebig, Laurence Jassogne, Eric Rahn, Peter Läderach, Hans Michael Poehling, Patrick Kucel, Piet Van Asten & Jacques Avelino
In this paper, we present a case study on coffee production in Uganda, a sector depending mostly on smallholder farming facing a simultaneous and increasing number of socio-ecological pressures. The objectives of this study were (i) to examine and relate FPK on Arabica Coffee Pests and Diseases (CPaD) to altitude and the vegetation structure of the production systems; (ii) to contrast results with perceptions from experts and (iii) to validate results with field observations, in...

Replication Data for: Ecogeography and utility to plant breeding of the crop wild relatives of sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.)

Michael B Kantar, Chrystian C Sosa, Colin K Khoury, Nora P Castañeda Álvarez, Harold A Achicanoy, Vivian Bernau, Nolan Kane, Laura Marek, Gerald Seiler & Loren H Rieseberg
Crop wild relatives (CWR) are a rich source of genetic diversity for crop improvement. Combining ecogeographic and phylogenetic techniques can inform both conservation and breeding. Geographic occurrence, bioclimatic, and biophysical data were used to predict species distributions, range overlap and niche occupancy in 36 taxa closely related to sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.). Taxa lacking comprehensive ex situ conservation were identified. The predicted distributions for 36 Helianthus taxa identified substantial range overlap and asymmetry and niche...

Rice cropping events data for Saldaña (lowland irrigated rice) and Villavicencio (rainfed rice), Colombia

Colombian National Rice Growers Association
These two datasets hold basic information on rice cropping events corresponding to fields of two regions of Colombia: Saldaña (Tolima) and Villavicencio (Meta). This include municipality, variety, cropping system (irrigated/rainfed), sowing and harvesting date, and yield.

Tree of Life Web Project Classification

David Maddison
The Tree of Life Web Project (ToL) is a collaborative effort of biologists and nature enthusiasts from around the world. On more than 10,000 World Wide Web pages, the project provides information about biodiversity, the characteristics of different groups of organisms, and their evolutionary history (phylogeny).

GSQ Galilee TMI grid geodetic

QLD NRM
Total magnetic intensity data measures variations in the intensity of the Earth's magnetic filed caused by the contrasting content of rock-forming minerals in the Earth's crust. The data are collected on airborne geophysical surveys conducted by Commonwealth, State & NT Governments and the private sector.

UNITE provides a unified way for delimiting, identifying, communicating, and working with DNA-based Species Hypotheses (SH). All fungal ITS sequences in the international nucleotide sequence databases are clustered to approximately the species level by applying a set of dynamic distance values (<0.5 - 3.0%). All species hypotheses are given a unique, stable name in the form of a DOI, and their taxonomic and ecological annotations are verified through distributed, web-based third-party annotation efforts. SHs are...
