SPRUCE Vegetation Phenology in Experimental Plots from Phenocam Imagery, 2015-2016

Andrew Richardson, Koen Hufkens, Thomas Milliman, Donald Aubrecht, Morgan Furze, Bijan Seyednasrollah, Misha Krassovski & Paul Hanson
This data set consists of PhenoCam data from the SPRUCE experiment from the beginning of whole ecosystem warming in August 2015 through the end of 2017. Digital cameras, or phenocams, installed in each SPRUCE enclosure track seasonal variation in vegetation “greenness”, a proxy for vegetation phenology and associated physiological activity. Regions of interest (ROIs) were defined for vegetation types (1) Picea trees (EN, evergreen needleleaf); (2) Larix trees (DN, deciduous needleleaf); and (3) the mixed...

WIND Toolkit Offshore Summary Dataset

SPRUCE Whole Ecosystem Warming (WEW) Peat Water Content and Temperature Profiles for Experimental Plot Cores Beginning June 2016

J. Gutknecht, L. Kluber, P. Hanson & C. Schadt
This data set provides the peat water content and peat temperature at time of sampling for peat cores collected before and during the SPRUCE Whole Ecosystem Warming (WEW) study. Cores for the current data set were collected during the following bulk peat sampling events: 13 June 2016 and 23 August 2016. Over time, this dataset will be updated with each new major bulk peat sampling event, and dates/methods will be updated accordingly.

Maui Gravity and Soil Gas Surveys

John Akerley
Contains a ground-based gravity survey of South Maui and a series of soil CO2 flux and temperature surveys encompassing Maui and the Big Island. The gravity survey was collected from approximately 284 km2 and consisted of 400 gravity stations with 400 m spacing. Locations were derived with full DGPS. Station and line location, Complete Bouger Anomaly, first vertical derivative and horizontal gradient maps were calculated and produced. The soil CO2 flux and temperature surveys were...

Output data from an NREL report entitled "An Assessment of the Economic Potential of Offshore Wind in the United States from 2015 to 2030" (NREL/TP-6A20-67675), which analyzes the spatial variation of levelized cost of energy (LCOE) and levelized avoided cost of energy (LACE) to understand the economic potential of fixed-bottom and floating offshore wind technologies across more than 7,000 U.S. coastal sites between 2015 and 2030.

3-D VPIC simulation of an vortex-induced reconnection event observed by MMS

Takuma Nakamura & William Daughton
The data set consists of a 3-D fully kinetic (VPIC) simulation of an in-situ observation event at the Earth's magnetopause by the NASA MMS spacecraft on September 8, 2015. The results show a turbulent development of magnetic reconnection induced by the Kelvin-Helmohltz vortex, and resulting significantly efficient plasma mixing across the magnetopause. The vortex-induced reconnection signatures are well consistent with the MMS observations. These results are published in some scientific journals such as Nature Communications....
