Spatial Rank-Based Augmentation for Nonparametric Online Monitoring and Adaptive Sampling of Big Data Streams
Xin Zan, Di Wang & Xiaochen Xian
The age of Internet of Things (IoT) has witnessed the rapid development of modern data acquisition devices and communicating-actuating networks, which enables the generation of big data streams shared across platforms for remote and efficient decision making of many critical systems. The monitoring of big data streams remains a challenging task in various practical applications mainly due to their complexity in interrelationships, large volume, and high velocity, which places prohibitive demands on monitoring methodologies and...
Removal of harmful algae by Shigella sp. H3 and Alcaligenes sp. H5: algicidal pathways and characteristics
Gang Xue, Xiaonuan Wang, Chenlan Xu, Binxue Song & Hong Chen
Application of algicidal bacteria is a promising technology to control harmful algal blooms (HABs). In this study, algicidal bacteria strains Shigella sp. H3 and Alcaligenes sp. H5 were obtained via two different isolation methods from the same lake water sample, with optimal algicidal efficiencies 96% and 74% against algae mixture. The Shigella sp. H3 and Alcaligenes sp. H5 lysed algae cells through cells-to-cells direct contact and secretion of algicidal metabolites, respectively. The stronger algicidal capability...
Profile of clinical characteristics and serologic markers of sporadic hepatitis E in a community cohort study
Zi-Min Tang, Gui-Ping Wen, Dong Ying, Si-Ling Wang, Chang Liu, Wei-Kun Tian, Ying-Bin Wang, Mu-Jin Fang, Yu-Lin Zhou, Yun-Sheng Ge, Ting Wu, Jun Zhang, Shou-Jie Huang, Zi-Zheng Zheng & Ning-Shao Xia
Hepatitis E virus (HEV) is a pathogen of global significance, but the value of HEV-related markers in the diagnosis of hepatitis E remains controversial. Previous studies on hepatitis E profiles have been mainly cross-sectional and conducted among inpatients in large hospitals, and hepatitis E cases have been primarily defined by limited partial markers. In this community-based study, 4,110 active hepatitis cases from a population of nearly 600,000 were followed over 48 months and serial serum...

Effect of ocular magnification on macular choroidal thickness measurements made using optical coherence tomography in children
Junjie Deng, Jiali Jin, Bo Zhang, Siqi Zhang, Jingjing Wang, Shuyu Xiong, Tianyu Cheng, Kun Liu, Jiannan Huang, Xiangui He & Xun Xu
To evaluate the relationship between ocular magnification correction and macular choroidal thickness (ChT) measurements in children, and to demonstrate when ocular magnification correction is necessary. Chinese children aged 6–9 years with various refractive statuses were included. Swept-source optical coherence tomography was used to measure macular ChT. A self-designed program was adopted to simulate ChT changes in each sector of the ETDRS grid in the macula under various simulated axial lengths (ALs). ChT measurements were not...
Efficacy and safety of novel-targeted drugs in the treatment of pulmonary arterial hypertension: a Bayesian network meta-analysis
Wenhai Fu, Wenjun He, Yuexin Li, Yangxiao Chen, Jingyi Liang, Hui Lei, Lin Fu, Yanghang Chen, Ni Ren, Qian Jiang, Yi Shen, Ran Ma, Tao Wang, Xinni Wang, Nuofu Zhang, Dakai Xiao & Chunli Liu
Background: Pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) is a severe and fatal clinical syndrome characterized by high blood pressure and vascular remodeling in the pulmonary arterioles, which is also a rapidly progressing disease of the lung vasculature with a poor prognosis. Although PAH medication made great advances in recent years, the efficacy and safety of the medication are unsatisfactory. Therefore, we aimed to update and expand previous studies to explore the efficacy and safety of PAH-targeted medications....
