Interpretive data release for Oregon OCS Seafloor Mapping: Selected Lease Blocks Relevant to Renewable Energy

Guy R Cochrane
This data release includes the results of analysis of video data conducted by Oregon State University and the geo-habitat interpretation of multibeam echo sounder (MBES) data conducted by the USGS. The data were collected in 2014 and were published in Cochrane and others (2015). This data release accompanies report that describes the project and results in detail (Cochrane and others, 2017). All the data are provided as geographic information system (GIS) files that contain both...

A website tool for predicting triploidy in larval fish spawns

Jill A Jenkins, Bogdan Chivoiu & Rassa O Dale
This is an online tool called Ploidy Predictor. Triploidy is the condition in which three chromosome sets occur in somatic cells. Triploidization is the most practical, economical, and effective method for mass production of sterile fishes. Some examples include triploid oysters Crassostrea spp., Grass Carp Ctenopharyngodon idella, and Black Carp Mylopharyngodon piceus that are commercially cultured for consumption, weed and snail control, respectively. Triploidization limits the potential for establishment of wild populations. However, treatments used...

Walrus Haulout Database at Science Base, including Spatial Services

Anthony S. Fischbach, A. A. Kochnev, J. M. Garlich-Miller & Chadwick V. Jay
ArcGIS web mapping service created for the Pacific walrus coastal haulout database for NOAA's use. We summarize available information on Pacific walrus haulouts from available reports, interviews with coastal residents and aviators, and personal observations of the authors. We provide this in the form of a georeferenced database that may be queried and displayed with standard geographic information system and database management software. The database contains 150 records of Pacific walrus haulouts, with a summary...

Preliminary map of the 2018 lower East Rift Zone eruption of Kilauea Volcano, Island of Hawaii

Hawaiian Volcano Observatory
This web map service is updated as data is available to show ongoing developments of the 2018 lower East Rift Zone eruption of Kilauea Volcano, Island of Hawaii. These data are preliminary and represent estimated locations for lava flow boundaries, eruptive fissures, and noneruptive ground cracks shown as polygons, lines, and points, respectively. Also included are historic Kilauea lava flows from 1840, 1955, 1960, and 2014-2015 as purple shaded areas, and paths of steepest decent...
