Modeling & Simulation Of Solid State Transformer

, &
A New Model Solid State Transformer is used as a controllable bidirectional transmission device that can transfer power between asynchronous networks and functionally similar to back-to-back-HVDC.A solid-state transformer is the solution and it provide the efficient functioning as a conventional transformer and also provide other benefits, particularly on-demand reactive power maintenance for smart grid, power quality and voltage conversion. Recently, another high-frequency link power conversion system, the solid-state transformer, has garnered a great deal of...

Complex health care interventions: Characteristics relevant for ethical analysis in health technology assessment

Kristin Bakke Lysdahl & Bjørn Hofmann
Complexity entails methodological challenges in assessing health care interventions. In order to address these challenges, a series of characteristics of complexity have been identified in the Health Technology Assessment (HTA) literature. These characteristics are primarily identified and developed to facilitate effectiveness, safety, and cost-effectiveness analysis. However, ethics is also a constitutive part of HTA, and it is not given that the conceptions of complexity that appears relevant for effectiveness, safety, and cost-effectiveness analysis are also...

Dynamische Emissions- und Kraftstoffverbrauchsmessung an pflanzenöltauglichen Traktoren

Johannes Ettl, Heinz Bernhardt, Klaus Thuneke, Peter Emberger & Edgar Remmele

Reactions of ketene dithioacetal for a new versatile synthesis of 4,5-substituted 3-aminothiophene-2-carboxylate derivatives

Satish M. Chavan, , , Pankaj B. Aware & Poonam S. Patil
Poly substituted 3-aminothiophenes were successfully synthesized in good yields by using a one-pot protocol via ketene S,S-acetal as an intermediate in basic medium (K2CO3/N,N-dimethylformamide) followed by Dieckmann condensation with ethyl bromoacetate. Further, chemistry of thiophenes was explored using active functional groups such as C3–NH2, C4–CN and C5–SCH3 on the thiophene nucleus. Synthesis of ethyl 3-acetamido-4-cyano-5-(methylthio)thiophene-2-carboxylate derivatives and ethyl 3-amino-4-carbamoyl-5-(methylthio)thiophene-2-carboxylate derivatives.

Statistics on Race and the Criminal Justice System 2014

This publication compiles statistics from data sources across the Criminal Justice System (CJS), to provide a combined perspective on the typical experiences of different ethnic groups. No causative links can be drawn from these summary statistics, and no controls have been applied to account for differences in circumstances between groups (e.g. average income or age); differences observed may indicate areas worth further investigation, but should not be taken as evidence of bias or as direct...

Commemoration, Cult of the Fallen (Australia)

Joan Beaumont
The memory of the First World War has played a prominent role in Australian political culture. The Anzac legend, originating in the 1915 Gallipoli campaign, soon became the foundational narrative of an emerging nation. Despite profound changes in Australian society in the following century, "Anzac" continues to serve as a complex signifier of national identity. The centenary of the First World War seemingly affirmed the centrality of the First World War in the national memory...

Nonperturbative estimate of the heavy quark momentum diffusion coefficient

Mikko Sakari Laine, A. Francis, O. Kaczmarek, T. Neuhaus & H. Ohno
We estimate the momentum diffusion coefficient of a heavy quark within a pure SU(3) plasma at a temperature of about 1.5Tc. Large-scale Monte Carlo simulations on a series of lattices extending up to 1923×48 permit us to carry out a continuum extrapolation of the so-called color-electric imaginary-time correlator. The extrapolated correlator is analyzed with the help of theoretically motivated models for the corresponding spectral function. Evidence for a nonzero transport coefficient is found and, incorporating...

Is a Revision a Revision? An Analysis of National Arthroplasty Registries' Definitions of Revision.

Joachim Hassenpflug, Thoralf Randolph Liebs & Farina Splietker
BACKGROUND The reported survival of implants depends on the definition used for the endpoint, usually revision. When screening through registry reports from different countries, it appears that revision is defined quite differently. QUESTIONS/PURPOSES The purposes of this study were to compare the definitions of revision among registry reports and to apply common clinical scenarios to these definitions. METHODS We downloaded or requested reports of all available national joint registries. Of the 23 registries we identified,...
