The effect of wet-grinding on coal mechanochemical pre-desulfurization

Jinting Liu, Jing Zhao, Suqian Gu & Xiaoheng Fu
For reducing SOx emissions during industrial activities, a new desulfurization method is urgently needed to be exploited. Thus, a mechanochemical pre-desulfurization method was explored. For characterizing the change patterns of coal before and after grinding, N2 adsorption-desorption isotherms, X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) was utilized. The maximum% of desulfurization rate reached 24.69% under optimum conditions of wet-grinding, a 10% grinding concentration, and a period of grinding 90...

A new butylphthalide from Ligusticum striatum DC.

Xue Xie, Hongda Zhang, Lina Liu, Fuyong Ni, Xiao Yu, Yan Zhong, Ming Yan, Chenfeng Zhang, Zhenzhong Wang, Nan Xu & Wei Xiao
One new butylphthalide ligusticumolide H (1), together with the known butylphthalides senkyunolide I (2), senkyunolide H (3), (3 R,3′S)-3′-hydroxy-3-butylphthalide (4), (3 R)-4-hydroxy-3-butylphthalide (5) and senkyunolide C (6) was isolated from the rhizome of Ligusticum striatum DC. Their structures were determined by extensive spectroscopic analyses including HR-ESI-MS, 1D and 2D NMR, and the absolute configuration of 1 was established by NMR and ECD calculations. Their effect on NO production in IL-1β-stimulated chondrocytes was also evaluated.

Three undescribed coumarins from the roots of Angelica pubescens

Fuyong Ni, Xue Xie, Xue Huai, Xiao Yu, Hongda Zhang, Ming Li, Jianhui Wen, Ming Yan, Chenfeng Zhang, Zhenzhong Wang & Wei Xiao
Three undescribed coumarins, 6-(3-hydroxy-3-methyl-2-oxobutyl)-7-methoxycoumarin (1), (R)-6-(1,3-dihydroxy-3-methyl-2-oxobutyl)-7-methoxycoumarin (2), angelol N (6), together with four known coumarins were isolated from the roots of Angelica pubescens. Their structures were determined by extensive spectroscopic analyses. The absolute configurations of compounds 2 and 6 were assigned via electronic circular dichroism (ECD). Their inhibitory effects on lipopoly-saccharide (LPS)-induced nitric oxide (NO) production in RAW264.7 cells were evaluated. Compounds 1–4 exhibited moderate inhibitory activities.

Spatial variability and hotspot prediction of heavy metal pollution in soil-rice system: based on a new geostatistical method

Dun Wu, Hai Liu, Xia Gao, Bo Li & Ndhlovu Kataza Nyasha
The goal of this research was to better understand the spatial characteristics and hot areas of heavy metal concentrations in the soil-rice system, which was critical for implementing heavy metal pollution prevention and control strategies. The amounts of heavy metals in soil-rice were determined using high-precision testing methods such as XRF, ICP-MS, and AFS based on the systematic collection of 285 pairs of soil-rice samples from Wanjiang Economic Zone, China. The Getis-Ord index, Kriging method,...

Long noncoding RNA NONHSAG045500 regulates serotonin transporter to ameliorate depressive-like behavior via the cAMP–PKA–CREB signaling pathway in a model of perinatal depression

Xuelian Cui, Yongjuan Xu, Haiyan Zhu, Li Wang & Jun Zhou
Perinatal depression (PND) is the most common complication of childbirth and negatively affects the mother. Long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) NONHSAG045500 inhibits the expression of 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT) transporter (i.e. serotonin transporter [SERT]) and produces an antidepressant effect. This study aimed to identify a link between the lncRNA NONHSAG045500 and the pathogenesis of PND. Female C57BL/6 J mice were divided into normal control group (control group, n = 15), chronic unpredictable stress (CUS) model group (PND group,...

The effects of different inhalation therapies on less symptomatic chronic obstructive pulmonary disease patients in a Chinese population: a real-world study

Qing Song, Ling Lin, Aiyuan Zhou, Wei Cheng, Cong Liu, Yating Peng, Zijing Zhou, Yuqin Zeng, Dingding Deng, Dan Liu, Zhiping Yu, Yan Chen, Shan Cai & Ping Chen
The Global Initiative for Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease (GOLD) document suggests that patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) should be divided into a less symptomatic group. Moreover, single-inhaled drugs are recommended as initial inhalation therapy for them. However, many less symptomatic patients are provided double or triple-inhaled drugs as initial therapy in the real world. This study aimed to describe the inhalation prescriptions and compare the effects of different inhalation therapies on less symptomatic...
