Silmitasertib-induced macropinocytosis promoting DDP intracellular uptake to enhance cell apoptosis in oral squamous cell carcinoma
Shaojuan Song, Xin Xia, Jiajia Qi, Xiaopei Hu, Qian Chen, Jiang Liu, Ning Ji & Hang Zhao
Cisplatin (DDP) is a first-line chemotherapeutic drug applied for the treatment of oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC). The anticancer activity of DDP is tightly linked to its intracellular uptake. It is unwise to increase the DDP intake by increasing the dose or shortening the dosing interval because of the severe systemic toxicity (nephrotoxicity, ototoxicity and neurotoxicity) in DDP application. The main uptake pathways of DDP include passive diffusion and active transporter transport. Therefore, finding additional...

Pengfei Zuo, Yu Li, Haihua Cheng, Christopher J. Spencer, Fengbo Sun, Shiyan Wang & Deshun Zheng
The Meso- to Neoproterozoic Eras were characterized by environmental, evolutionary, and lithospheric stability in the North China Craton (NCC). It is controversial that huge uplift(s) occurred in the North China Craton during this period. The southern NCC developed early terrestrial deposition in the late-Paleoproterozoic and glacial sequence in the late Neoproterozoic record integrated geological history of the NCC in the intervening interval. Geochemistry compositions of mid-Mesoproterozoic carbonaceous slates (ca. 1330 Ma) show similar provenances to...

The polarization of macrophages plays a critical role in the physiological and pathological progression of rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Activated M1 macrophages overexpress folate receptors in arthritic joints. Hence, we developed folic acid (FA)-modified liposomes (FA-Lips) to encapsulate triptolide (TP) (FA-Lips/TP) for the targeted therapy of RA. FA-Lips exhibited significantly higher internalization efficiency in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-stimulated RAW 264.7 cells than liposomes (Lips) in the absence of folate. Next, an adjuvant-induced arthritis (AIA) rat model was established...

Aimei Li, Bin Yi, Hailong Han, Shikun Yang, Zhaoxin Hu, Li Zheng, Jianwen Wang, Qin Liao & Hao Zhang
Diabetic nephropathy (DN) has become a major cause of end-stage renal disease, and autophagy disorder is implicated in the pathogenesis of DN. Our previous studies found that vitamin D (VD) and VDR (vitamin D receptor) played a renoprotective role by inhibiting inflammation and fibrosis. However, whether VD-VDR regulates autophagy disorders in DN remains unclear. In this study, we established a streptozotocin (STZ)-induced diabetic model in vdr knockout (vdr-KO) mice and VDR specifically overexpressed in renal...
