Potential antiplatelet aggregation metabolites from the discarded sorghum (Sorghum bicolor L.) root
Wan-ting Xu, Qiao An, Ling-hui Ruan, Fei Zhou, Lang Zhou, Mei Peng, Li-lang Li, Xiao-sheng Yang, Qi-ji Li & Juan Yang
Sorghum (Sorghum bicolor L.) is the fifth largest crop in the world and has potential health benefits, but vast quantities of sorghum roots are discarded after harvest. Based on the previous antiplatelet aggregation for this species, two new multi-substituted 3H-indole alkaloids sorghumine A (1) and sorghumine B (2), together with 14 known compounds (3–16), were found from the water extract of sorghum roots. Compounds 1–2 were identified by analyzing their spectroscopic data and physic and...
Three new feruloyl glucuronopyranosyl glycerols from Eriocaulon buergerianum with their anti-fibrotic effects on hepatic stellate cells
Yong Zhang, Hao Li, Zhijian Xu, Yulong Shi, Bo Li, Jia Li, Haji Akber Aisa, Yi Zang & Weiliang Zhu
Three new feruloyl glucuronopyranosyl glycerols, 1-O-α-D-(2′-feruloyl) glucuronopyranosyl glycerol (1), 1-O-α-D-(3′-feruloyl) glucuronopyranosyl glycerol (2), and 1-O-α-D-(4′-feruloyl) glucuronopyranosyl glycerol (3) were isolated and purified from the capitulum of Eriocaulon buergerianum Koern. Their structures were identified by spectroscopic and chemical methods. Molecular docking study showed that 1 is a potential inhibitor of TGF-β1 receptor. Bioassay results revealed that 1 exhibited strong inhibitory activity against the TGF-β-induced expression of α-smooth muscle actin (α-SMA) and fibronectin in human hepatic stellate...

Two pairs of flavonoid enantiomers (1a/1b and 2a/2b) together with three known analogues (3–5) were isolated from the heartwood of Dalbergia odorifera T. Chen. Their structures were elucidated by extensive spectroscopic analysis (1 D and 2 D NMR, UV, IR, and HRMS) and experimental and calculated ECD data. Compound 2 features an unusual 2-methyl-3(2H)-furanone moiety forming the C-ring of flavonoid, and its putative biosynthetic pathway is also proposed. Compounds 3‒5 exhibited significant inhibition of nitric...
Associations between PTSD symptoms and other psychiatric symptoms among college students exposed to childhood sexual abuse: a network analysis
Yu Jin, Shicun Xu, Yinzhe Wang, Hui Li, Xiaofeng Wang, Xi Sun & Yuanyuan Wang
Background: Childhood sexual abuse (CSA) is one of the prevalent forms of trauma experienced during childhood and adolescence. Previous research underscores its associations with depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and psychosis. Objective: This study examined symptom connections between depression, anxiety, PTSD, and psychosis while simultaneously investigating whether these connections differed by gender among CSA survivors. Methods: A large-scale, cross-sectional study among 96,218 college students was conducted in China. Participants’ CSA was measured by the...

Single-cell RNA sequencing studies have suggested that total mRNA content correlates with tumor phenotypes. Technical and analytical challenges, however, have so far impeded at-scale pan-cancer examination of total mRNA content. Here we present a method to quantify tumor-specific total mRNA expression (TmS) from bulk sequencing data, taking into account tumor transcript proportion, purity and ploidy, which are estimated through transcriptomic/genomic deconvolution. We estimate and validate TmS in 6,590 patient tumors across 15 cancer types, identifying...

Kangkang Zhang, Li Liu, Ting Zhang, Chi Zhang, Xinpeng Xu, Qifeng Wu & Hua You
Adherence to the use of child restraint system (CRS) can greatly reduce child casualties in road traffic accidents. This study aims to develop the behavior maintenance model of CRS use based on the health action process approach (HAPA) theory to explore the maintenance mechanisms, suggesting appropriate intervention strategies. Adopting the multi-stage stratified cluster random sampling method, a cross-sectional survey for guardians recruited from kindergarten and primary school was conducted using the questionnaire developed based on...
