Combination of chemotherapy and immune checkpoint therapy by the immunoconjugates-based nanocomplexes synergistically improves therapeutic efficacy in SCLC

Zhang Tao, Xingwang Kuai, Guangwei Wang, Sanfeng Liu, Kai Liu, Heng Zhang, Shujing Xia & Hua Zhu
Although the etoposide and carboplatin (EP) combination strategy has been the first-line chemotherapy, patients with extensive-stage disease small-cell lung cancer (SCLC) still have poor survival outcomes. Our retrospective analysis revealed that 46 patients with SCLC only achieved medium overall survival (OS) of 11.6 months after treated by EP. Recently, it was demonstrated that combination therapy of PD1/PD-L1 immune checkpoint blocker and EP could significantly improve the OS of SCLC patients. However, the serious treatment-related toxicity...

The assessment of different vegetation indices for spatial disaggregating of thermal imagery over the humid agricultural region

Kai Liu, Shudong Wang, Xueke Li, Yao Li, Bo Zhang & Ruiting Zhai
Land surface temperature (LST) plays a significant role in surface water circulation and energy balance at both global and regional scales. Thermal disaggregation technique, which relies on vegetation indices, has been widely used due to its advantage in producing relatively high resolution LST data. However, the spatial enhancement of satellite LST using soil moisture delineated vegetation indices has not gained enough attention. Here we compared the performances of temperature vegetation dryness index (TVDI), normalized difference...

The use of alkaline phosphatase as a bone turnover marker after spinal cord injury: A scoping review of human and animal studies

Matteo Ponzano, Matheus J. Wiest, André Coleman, Emily Newton, Maureen Pakosh, Eleni M. Patsakos, David S. K. Magnuson, Lora M. Giangregorio & B. Catharine Craven
Serum alkaline phosphatase (ALP) is measured as an indicator of bone or liver disease. Bone-specific alkaline phosphatase (B-ALP) is an isoform of ALP found in the bone tissue which can predict fractures and heterotopic ossification. The aim of this scoping review was to explore the current use of ALP and B-ALP in studies using humans or animal models of SCI, and to identify ways to advance future research using ALP and B-ALP as a bone...
