Halophytic vegetation and adjoining plant communities in Middle Asia (Pamir-Alai and western Tian Shan)

Sebastian Świerszcz, Marcin Nobis, Anna Wróbel, Ewelina Klichowska, Sylwia Nowak & Arkadiusz Nowak
In this paper, we complete the syntaxonomical scheme for halophytic vegetation and adjoining plant communities of the lowland, montane and alpine zones in the Pamir-Alai and western Tian Shan in Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan with some remarks on its environmental predictors. A total of 217 relevés were sampled in 2014–2019 using the seven-degree cover-abundance scale of the Braun-Blanquet approach. Modified TWlNSPAN was used to classify plant communities based on species composition. The cover-abundance scale was transformed...

„TAK WŁAŚNIE ZNIKNIESZ” Teatr Gisèle Vienne

Katarzyna Tórz
The article presents various aspects of the work of the Franco‑Austrian director Gisèle Vienne, one of the most important artists of contemporary European theater in their forties. With originality, Vienne builds complex stage worlds that treat the text only as one of its elements and a separate authorial understanding defining realism. She creates performances combining elements of dramatic theatre, contemporary dance, work with objects – dolls and robots – and electronic music. The article reconstructs...

CAFFE CINO, CZYLI QUEEROWA AWANGARDA

Joanna Krakowska-Narożniak
When in December 1958 Joe Cino opened his place on a small side street of New York, he could not have imagined that, in a fifty‑square‑meter space, a radically new, alternative theater movement could be born, named “Off‑Off‑Broadway” almost immediately by journalists from The Village Voice. Even they, however, introducing a new section under this heading, could not have foreseen that Caffe Cino’s activity would become a turning point for queer performance and, to a...

Effect of cyclic loading at elevated temperatures on the magnetic susceptibility of a magnetite-bearing ore

Katarzyna Dudzisz , Mario Walter, Ralf Krumholtz , Boris Reznik & Agnes Kontny
Rocks are often subjected to dynamic stress that occurs during earthquakes, volcanic activity as well as human-induced activities. The aim of this study is to test if mechanical fatigue in rocks can be monitored by magnetic methods. For this purpose, the effect of cyclic-mechanical loading (150 + 30 MPa) on the magnetic susceptibility and its anisotropy of a magnetite-bearing ore with varying temperatures and environment was investigated. Our study shows that magnetic susceptibility decreases significantly...

On Mesozoic uplifts along the SW edge of the East European Craton – new insight from regional onshore (PolandSPAN) and offshore (BalTec) seismic reflection data from Poland

Piotr Krzywiec , Łukasz Słonka , Aleksandra Stachowska , Quang Nguyen , Michał Malinowski , Christian Huebscher , Regina Kramarska & Niklas Ahlrichs
East European Craton (EEC) in Poland has been recently studied by onshore PolandSPAN and offshore BalTec regional seismic surveys. PolandSPAN data imaged earliest Late Jurassic, earliest Late Cretaceous and mid-Late Cretaceous laterally extensive unconformities that document hitherto unknown substantial uplifts of the SW edge of the EEC. Cretaceous unconformities might have been formed as a result of inversion-induced buckling of the cratonic edge. BalTec offshore survey was acquired within the transition zone between the Paleozoic...

Stowarzyszenie, szkoła, spółdzielnia – wielogłos Teatru Węgajty

Magdalena Hasiuk-Świerzbińska & Joanna Kocemba-Żebrowska
TThe text presents the process of transformation of the organizational structure of the Węgajty Theatre and the related reformation of the group dynamics and methods of creative work. In the group’s complex organizational history, the turning point was the loss of permanent institutional support in 2011. After twenty-five years of work under the auspices of various cultural institutions in Olsztyn, the Węgajty Theatre was forced to function as a non-governmental organization. The text shows the...

The aim of our study was to complete the syntaxonomical scheme for grassland vegetation of the lowland, montane and alpine zones in the Pamir-Alai and western Tian Shan Mts in Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan with some remarks on its environmental predictors. A total of 198 relevés were sampled in 2013–2018 using the seven-degree cover-abundance scale of the Braun-Blanquet approach. They were classified with k-means algorithmwith tranforming cover values to three level scale of the following intervals0%,...

“A Patriotic Act for Macedonia”: The Mnemohistory of Commemorations of Mara Buneva in Skopje (2001-2018)

Naum Trajanovski
Almost every year since 2001, on 13 January, a commemorative plaque dedicated to Mara Buneva is mounted and, on several occasions, demolished in the centre of Skopje. Buneva (1902-1928), who was affiliated with the rightist interwar Internal Macedonian Revolutionary Organisation (Vnatrešna Makedonska Revolucionerna Organizacija, VMRO), is famous for her assassination of Velimir Prelić (1883-1928), a high-ranking representative of the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats, and Slovenes (Kingdom SHS) on the territory of today’s North Macedonia, as...
