The quality of published health economic evaluations on screening programs in China: a systematic review and quantitative appraisal

Yu Xia, Dai Lian, Yi Yang, Lei Si, Jian Ming, Yan Wei & Yingyao Chen
This study seeks to assess the quality of HEEs reporting on screening programs over the last 20 years in China, to identify potential predictors of reporting quality. We performed a literature search of HEE studies published in PubMed, Embase, CNKI, and WANFANG from 2000 to 2021. The search terms included ‘screening,’ ‘China,’ ‘CEA,’ ‘CBA,’ ‘CUA,’ and all other names for health economic evaluation. Two reviewers independently extracted data and assessed the reporting quality using CHEERS...

TET2 regulates osteoclastogenesis by modulating autophagy in OVX-induced bone loss

Chen Yang, Huaqiang Tao, Haifeng Zhang, Yu Xia, Jiaxiang Bai, Gaoran Ge, Wenming Li, Wei Zhang, Long Xiao, Yaozeng Xu, Zhirong Wang, Ye Gu, Huilin Yang, Yu Liu & Dechun Geng
Increased bone resorption by osteoclasts after estrogen deficiency is the main cause of postmenopausal osteoporosis. TET2 (tet methylcytosine dioxygenase 2) is a DNA demethylase that regulates cellular function and differentiation potential. Macroautophagy/autophagy maintains cellular homeostasis by recycling unnecessary and damaged organelles. This study revealed that TET2 promoted bone loss in oophorectomized (OVX) mice and that TET2 promoted osteoclast differentiation by regulating autophagy. Tet2 knockdown inhibited autophagy and osteoclast differentiation in vitro. Mechanistically, Tet2 knockdown increased...

Three new cytotoxic annonaceous acetogenins from the seeds of Annona squamosa

Chengyao Ma, Yue Li, Jiahui Lu, Maolin Wang, Xiang Li, Jianwei Chen, Yong Chen & Wenzheng Ju
Three new annonaceous acetogenins, annotemoyin L (1), annotemoyin Y (2) and annotemoyin X, (3) were isolated from the seeds of Annona squamosa Linn. Their structures were ascertained by chemical methods and spectral data. The cytotoxic activities of compounds against three multidrug-resistant cancer cell lines were evaluated, and compound 3 exerted strong cytotoxicity against SMMC 7721/ADR (IC50 0.163 μM), A549/T (IC50 0.064 μM) and MCF-7/ADR (IC50 0.057 μM).

Ecological quality assessment and monitoring using a time-series remote sensing-based ecological index (ts-RSEI)

Chao Sun, Jialin Li, Yongchao Liu, Luodan Cao, Jiahao Zheng, Zhenjie Yang, Junwei Ye & Yue Li
Ecological quality assessment is fundamental to revealing changes in ecological environments before the development of effective ecological conservation policies. The complex ecological environment can be assessed more reliably when multiple remote sensing indices are integrated, such as in the use of the prevalent Remote Sensing-based Ecological Index (RSEI). However, for effective ecological quality assessment, the requirement of acquisition time consistency for images has become an outstanding issue for broadening the application of the RSEI. In...

Molecular detection and identification of relapsing fever Borrelia in ticks and wild small mammals in China

Xiao-Ai Zhang, Feng Tian, Yue Li, Xiao-Long Zhang, Bao-Gui Jiang, Bao-Cheng Liu, Jing-Tao Zhang, Shen Tian, Heng Ding, Shuang Li, Hao Li, Li-Qun Fang & Wei Liu
We identified relapsing fever (RF) Borrelia in 1.45% (145/10426) of the ticks and 1.40% (40/2850) of the wild mammals in a field investigation in China. Three RF Borrelia species, including human-pathogenic Borrelia miyamotoi, Borrelia persica and unclassified Babesia sp. were determined. Main species determined from ticks was B. miyamotoi (44.14%), followed by the unclassified Borrelia sp. (42.76%), and Borrelia theileri (13.10%). In wild mammals, main species found was B. persica (57.50%), followed by the unclassified...
