The present work aims to prove the concept of tumor-targeted drug delivery mediated by platelets. Doxorubicin (DOX) attached to nanodiamonds (ND-DOX) was investigated as the model payload drug of platelets. In vitro experiments first showed that ND-DOX could be loaded in mouse platelets in a dose-dependent manner with a markedly higher efficiency and capacity than free DOX. ND-DOX-loaded platelets (Plt@ND-DOX) maintained viability and ND-DOX could be stably held in the platelets for at least 4...

Yan Zhang, Quan Wang, Wei-Kang Yang, Yong-Si Wang, Qiao Zhou, Jie Lin, Xu-Xuan Wei, Tian Liang, Tongtong Liu, Wen-Tao Fan, Li Liang & You-Nian Xu
Purpose: Oncology studies employing digital dissection methodologies have provided some insight on the biological features of tumor microenvironment of Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC), but molecular diagnostics rarely have therapeutic impact. We aimed to identify a novel prognostic biomarker to investigate immune characteristics of TNBC using transcriptomic features. Patients and Methods: We extracted whole transcriptome from breast cancer tissue of 30 TNBC patients and then used bioinformatics approaches to characterize the different immune cell contents in...

Robust parameter design of mixed multiple responses based on a latent variable Gaussian process model

Cuihong Zhai, Jianjun Wang, Zebiao Feng, Yan Ma & Haisong Deng
Traditional robust parameter design methods mainly focus on the optimization of quantitative quality characteristics. However, computer experiments involving qualitative and quantitative mixed input and output occur frequently in the manufacturing industry, which prompted the authors to develop an effective meta-modeling and optimization technique for such experiments. This article combines the latent variable Gaussian process (LVGP) model and fuzzy set theory to create a mixed multi-response LVGP (MMR-LVGP) model involving qualitative and quantitative mixed input and...

Study on diagnosis and management strategies on heterotopic pregnancy: a retrospective study

Yan Zhang, Xiujuan Chen, Yuan Lin, Chengying Lian & Xiumei Xiong
Heterotopic pregnancy (HP) is a rare but potentially life-threatening event with a high risk of maternal death, which also jeopardise the coexisting intrauterine pregnancy (IUP), thus an early accurate diagnosis and prompt treatment can decrease adverse complications. We aimed to explore the early predictors for pregnancy outcomes of HP. We reviewed patients with HP following assisted reproductive technology in our institution between January 2013 and December 2020. The relationships between pregnancy outcomes and clinical features...
