Lead (Pb) is a biologically non-essential element in the soil that brutally affects plants and other living organisms in soil; hence, its removal has become a worldwide concern. In this work, a multifunctional nanoscale zerovalent-iron assisted biochar (nFe°/BC) was used to minimize the Pb bioavailability in soil with aim of alleviating the Pb-induced toxicity in sunflower. Results revealed that nFe°/BC treatment had significantly improved plant growth (58%), chlorophyll contents (66%), intracellular permeability (60%), and ratio...

4-((5-(1-(4-Fluorophenyl)-5-methyl-1H-1,2,3-triazol-4-yl)-1,3,4-thiadiazol-2-yl)amino)benzenesulfonic acid: unexpected synthesis, structure elucidation and antimicrobial activity
Benson M. Kariuki, Hanan A. Mohamed, Bakr F. Abdel-Wahab & Gamal A. El-Hiti
Unexpected ring closure of 2-(1-(4-fluorophenyl)-5-methyl-1H-1,2,3-triazole-4-carbonyl)-N-phenylhydrazine-1-carbothioamide (3) on exposure to sulfuric acid at room temperature for an extended duration (12 h) gave 4-((5-(1-(4-fluorophenyl)-5-methyl-1H-1,2,3-triazol-4-yl)-1,3,4-thiadiazol-2-yl)amino)benzenesulfonic acid (4) in 75% yield. The use of sulfuric acid led to sulfonation at the para-position of the benzene ring in phenyl isothiocyanate. The crystal structure comprises two independent types of molecules of 4 and two disordered ether solvent molecules. The synthesized benzenesulfonic acid inhibits the growth of both Listeria monocytogenes and Escherichia...

Hydralazine is a vasodilator used to treat hypertension, pre-eclampsia, and heart failure. The current article reviews the clinical pharmacokinetics (PK) of hydralazine, which can be useful for clinicians in optimizing its dose and dosing frequency to avoid adverse effects and unexpected interactions that could risk patients’ lives. This review has summarized the PK parameters for hydralazine after performing an extensive literature search. It includes 20 publications that were selected after applying eligibility criteria out of...

In recent times, controlling agricultural diseases and pests using chemical pesticides is broadly applied and is considered effective but it is not considered as eco-friendly. For pest control, biological ways have been considered sustainable and safe. As bio-control agents, the Bacillus species exhibit a large spectrum of biological activity. The application of Bacillus subtilis as a potential bio-control agent against the lepidopteran pest, the rice leaffolder, Cnaphalocrocis medinalis is the focus of our study. The...
