Documenting an Environmental Disaster: The River Valley Collection at Marion Public Library

Ian Fairclough
Marion Public Library (located in Marion, Ohio, 45 miles north of Columbus) serves as repository for a collection of documents produced in response to local concern about the incidence of leukemia and other ailments among the population. Former athletes at the River Valley High School, several miles east of town, were particularly at risk. Inquiries revealed that the school was built on a former WW II military site, and that the school's ballpark was above...

Biological Dynamics of Forest Fragments Bibliography

Tovah Siegel, Jesse Wong, Wendy Mann, José Camargo, Thomas Lovejoy & David Luther
Coordinated by the Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas da Amazônia, the Biological Dynamics of Forest Fragments Project (BDFFP) is the longest-running and largest experimental habitat fragmentation site in the world. The Bibliography lists peer-reviewed papers that have resulted from BDFFP research. A new list of publications is generated annually.

Supporting Open Science Data Curation, Preservation, and Access by Libraries

Openness in research can lead to greater reproducibility, an accelerated pace of discovery, and decreased redundancy of effort. In addition, open research ensures equitable access to knowledge and the ability for any community to assess, interrogate, and build upon prior work. In order for research to succeed, openness and reproducibility are required. In turn, this requires open infrastructure and distributed access; but few institutions can provide all of these services alone. Providing a trustworthy network...

Supporting Open Science Data Curation, Preservation, and Access by Libraries

Eric Olson, Nicole Pfeiffer, Claire Riss, Jefferson Bailey & Lori Donovan
In this webinar, attendees will learn about both the technical and practical aspects of this collaborative project connecting the researcher tool OSF and the preservation system of Internet Archive. We will demonstrate how researchers can improve the openness and reproducibility of their research through preregistration, and how those preregistrations are preserved with Internet Archive. We will answer questions and seek to learn your needs and use cases for how this powerful workflow can support library...

Getting Started on OSF

Eric Olson, Nicole Pfeiffer, Mark Call & Daniel Steger
So you've made an OSF account — awesome! Now you’re ready to get started, but what should you do first? This project has resources, templates, and demonstrated practices to help you begin your OSF journey. Still have questions? Contact support@osf.io to discuss more OSF features.

Partnerships in Open Science Infrastructure

Eric Olson
Open science tools are by necessity community oriented; recognizing community needs, iterating to respond to changing priorities, and mobilizing communities of practice are a perpetual process featuring constant communication. This talk will share multiple ways that the Center for Open Science seeks and cultivates partnerships across the research landscape, and looks to the future of increasing overlap between our community friends and technical infrastructure.

Funder Mandates and Trends in Open Science

Eric Olson, Nicole Pfeiffer & David Mellor
Research funders are requiring or strongly encouraging open and reproducible methods at increased rates, leading researchers to rely on more data management tools while institutions continue to provide services to support them. Research support staff adapt quickly to guide their stakeholders and provide resources, while administrators must find methods to determine adoption and success across the community. In this webinar, COS Director of Policy David Mellor will share an update on funder expectations like preregistration,...
