Eric OlsonInnovative Mechanisms for Marketing Health Insurance: A Three-Phase Study that Includes a Randomized Field Experiment
Wendy Epstein, Christopher Robertson, Hansoo Ko, Matthew Lyddon, Kevin Wilson & David Yokum
This study, conducted in partnership with Health Insurance Exchanges in Maryland and Rhode Island, will test the effectiveness of marketing messages with a 'generosity framing' as a market-based mechanism for increasing insurance uptake among eligible uninsured populations in those states. We will test a variety of messages involving a generosity framing (encompassing a range of related concepts including responsibility and social norming). The study will include three phases. First, we will conduct qualitative exploratory work...
Supporting Open Science Data Curation, Preservation, and Access by Libraries
Eric Olson, Nicole Pfeiffer, Claire Riss, Jefferson Bailey & Lori Donovan
In this webinar, attendees will learn about both the technical and practical aspects of this collaborative project connecting the researcher tool OSF and the preservation system of Internet Archive. We will demonstrate how researchers can improve the openness and reproducibility of their research through preregistration, and how those preregistrations are preserved with Internet Archive. We will answer questions and seek to learn your needs and use cases for how this powerful workflow can support library...

The OSF is an open source project management tool that supports researchers throughout their entire project lifecycle. As a collaboration tool, OSF helps research teams work on projects privately or make the entire project publicly accessible for broad dissemination. As a workflow system, OSF enables connections to the many scientific tools researchers already use, streamlining their process and increasing efficiency. You may even use OSF as a portfolio tool for sharing your work with potential...

The Nature of Rehabilitation Programs to Improve Selected Musculoskeletal, Biomechanical, Functional, and Patient-reported Outcome Measures in Adult and Pediatric Athletes with ACL reconstruction: A Scoping Review
Joel Martin, Nelson Cortes, Nicholas Clark, Eddo Oladipo, Kelly Poretti & Navid Ghoddosi
Following anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction, patients commonly undergo prolonged rehabilitation (e.g., 9-12 months), but only a small proportion of individuals actually return to pre-injury sports activities. Therefore, research is needed to evaluate the nature and contribution of different components of rehabilitation programs. The purpose of this scoping review is to understand the variety of exercise prescriptions in rehabilitation programs that improve musculoskeletal, biomechanical, functional, or patient-reported outcome measures in athletes with ACL reconstruction. In...

Eric OlsonLeveraging Open Ecosystems to Enhance Reproducible Workflows
Claire Riss, Eric Olson, Nicole Pfeiffer, Aaron Wolen, Lenny Teytelman & Steffen Bollmann
Open source infrastructure has paved the way for mission-aligned research stakeholders to create a united vision of interoperable tools and services that accelerate scholarly communication, fill technology gaps, converge solutions, and enable access and discoverability. Hear from a panel of research groups that have taken advantage of interoperable infrastructure to leverage more robust workflows to support rigorous, reproducible research. We also discuss the steps stakeholders and institutions can take to integrate OSF’s open API with...

Eric OlsonCOVID-19 and Mental Health: The Emotional Impact of Social Distancing and Mediating Protective Factors
Stephanie F Dailey & Maggie Parker
The purpose of this study is to understand the psychosocial impact and mediating protective factors of social distancing measures during the COVID-19 pandemic to advance support structures for social distancing practices, guide public health recommendations, and inform mental health resource allocation and support services. This study has two specific aims, first to understand the psychological impact of social distancing measures on overall levels of mental health and second to assess the associations between psychological distress,...

A Systematic Mapping Review of Health, Safety and Sport Science in Lacrosse
Samantha Scarneo-Miller, Jennifer Monnin, Kyle Wallace, Shane Caswell & Andrew Lincoln
Lacrosse is one of the fastest growing sports in the United States with particular growth in popularity among younger athletes. Since 2001, total participation in lacrosse in the US has increased over 225%, and in 2015 total participation exceeded 800,000.1 Additionally, the US saw a 45.2% increase in high school sponsored programs from 2010-2018.1,2 With greater than half of US lacrosse participants under the age of fourteen, over 43,000 American collegiate athletes1, and international interest...
Alcohol Intoxication and Gender Gap in Willingness to Compete
Jianxin Wang, Daniel Houser & Shuwen Li
How does alcohol intoxication impact the gender gap in willingness to compete? To investigate this we randomly assign alcohol and placebo beverages to subjects in the lab, and then elicit their willingness to compete. Because alcohol is known to have a detrimental effect on norm obedience, our study can shed light on the contributions of social norms, in relation to innate preferences, on willingness to compete.
Alcohol Intoxication and Gender Norm in Willingness to Compete
Jianxin Wang, Shuwen Li & Daniel Houser
How does alcohol intoxication impact the perception of social norms? To investigate this, we randomly assign alcohol and placebo beverages to subjects in the lab, and then elicit their empirical and normative expectations of males’ and females’ willingness to compete. While in another study we found that alcohol intoxication, by removing gender norm, reduces gender gap in willingness to compete, this study can help to address the question of whether alcohol intoxication affects perception of...
Fork of OSF Institutions
Eric Olson
OSF Institutions enhances transparency and increases the visibility of research outputs, accelerating discovery and reuse. The Center for Open Science partners with institutions to provide infrastructure and tools to help researchers manage, collaborate and share their work, provide training and guide resources to enable researchers in transparent, open, and reproducible workflows, and collaborates with institutional staff to overcome challenges and showcase the open and reproducible outputs contributed by their research community. You can focus your...
