An efficient and practical synthesis of functionalized pyridines via recyclable copper-catalyzed three-component tandem cyclization

Chengkai Luo, Mingzhong Cai, Ruonan Zhao & Bin Huang
An efficient heterogeneous copper(I)-catalyzed three-component tandem cyclization of ketoxime acetates, aldehydes, and activated methylene compounds has been developed that proceeds smoothly in DMSO at 120 °C by using an 3-(2-aminoethylamino)propyl-modified MCM-41-bound copper(I) bromide [MCM-41-2N-CuBr] as the catalyst, delivering a variety of polysubstituted pyridines in good to high yields. The heterogenized copper(I) catalyst can be readily obtained via a simple preparative procedure from commercially available and inexpensive reagents, and reused more than seven times without any...

Investigation of the clinicopathological and prognostic role of circMTO1 in multiple cancers

Jian Zhou, Cheng Qiu, Xianzhe Tang, Rongjun Wan, Ziyi Wu, Dazhi Zou, Wanchun Wang, Yingquan Luo & Tang Liu
To observe the prognostic value of circular RNA mitochondrial tRNA translation optimization 1 (circMTO1) in human tumors. We searched multiple databases for related reports published before November 01, 2021. The OR/HR and 95% CI were extracted to explore the correlation between circMTO1 expression and clinicopathological features in various cancers. The stability of the results from meta-analysis was estimated via sensitivity analysis. We adopted Begg’s funnel plots and Egger’s test to appraise the potential bias of...

Qinghua Ji, Xiaojie Yu, Li Chen, Abdullateef Taiye Mustapha, Clinton Emeka Okonkwo, Cunshan Zhou & Xianming Liu
Converting biomass to produce renewable chemicals is one of the significant ways to realize the development of green chemistry and sustainable chemical industry. As the main component of lignocellulosic biomass, lignin is the most abundant natural polyphenol. Its unique phenolic properties and high carbon content make it potentially exploited. Biomass lignin depolymerization can be divided into thermochemical, chemical catalysis, electrocatalysis, and biological depolymerization methods. In this review, the catalytic reaction systems involved in different methods...

A retrospective study to evaluate Hy’s Law, DrILTox ALF score, Robles-Diaz model, and a new logistic regression model for predicting acute liver failure in Chinese patients with drug-induced liver injury

Xiaomei Xiong, Qing Xu & Bin Wang
To evaluate Hy’s law, DrILTox ALF Score, Robles-Diaz Model, and a new logistic regression model for predicting acute liver failure (ALF) in Chinese patients with drug-induced liver injury (DILI). We conducted a retrospective study among 514 hospitalized DILI patients from 2011 to 2020. Logistic regression analysis was used to develop a predictive model for ALF. The sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value (PPV), and negative predictive value (NPV) of these models were compared. Another 304 DILI...

A new insight into the mechanism of persistent luminescence phosphors SrS: Eu2+, Pr3+

Chao Xu, Shenao Yu, Linxing Shi, Yuanyuan Zhang & Qile Li
The red persistent luminescence phosphors SrS: Eux2+, Pry3+ (x = 0∼0.001, y = 0∼0.003) were synthesized by the solid-state reaction method in a weak reducing atmosphere of active carbon. The synthetic parameters, photoluminescence characteristics, and dynamic properties of thermoluminescence of the phosphors were studied systematically. According to the results of photoluminescence spectra of SrS: Eux2+, Pry3+, the energy level scheme of the phosphors was confirmed quantitatively. Based on the studies of the scanning electron microscope...

Two pairs of new isobenzofuranone enantiomers from a soil-derived fungus Penicillium canescens DWS225

Jing Wang, Xiao-Qian Wu, Ji-Song Mo, Yu-Fen Tan, Hong-Ping Long, Si-Qian Zhou, Shao Liu, Jing Li & Wen-Xuan Wang
Two pairs of new isobenzofuranone derivative enantiomers, (±)-penicifurans E (1) and (±)-penicifurans F (2), together with four know compounds (3–6) were isolated from the solid fermentation of Penicillium canescens DWS225. The structures of these enantiomers were elucidated by extensive NMR spectroscopic data, and their absolute configurations were assigned by the experimental and calculated ECD data. The neuroprotective effects of all the isolates against oxygen-glucose deprivation/reperfusion injury in pheochromocytoma-12 cells (PC12) were investigated.

A review on the heterogeneous oxidation of SO2 on solid atmospheric particles: Implications for sulfate formation in haze chemistry

Qingxin Ma, Chunyan Zhang, Chang Liu, Guangzhi He, Peng Zhang, Hao Li, Biwu Chu & Hong He
The oxidation of sulfur dioxide (SO2) to sulfate in the atmosphere is an important concern in regional air quality, global climate change, and human health. While gas-phase and liquid-phase oxidation of SO2 are widely regarded as important sources of sulfate, the contribution of the heterogeneous oxidation process on particle surfaces is controversial. Recently, this heterogeneous chemistry has been considered to be an important mechanism that is missing in current models to explain sulfate concentrations observed...
