Scutellaria Linn., which belongs to the family Lamiaceae, is a commonly used medicinal plant for heat clearing and detoxification. In particular, the roots of S. baicalensis and the entire herb of S. barbata have been widely used in traditional medicine for thousands of years. The main active components of Scutellaria, including: baicalein, wogonin, norwogonin, scutellarein, and their glycosides have potential or existing drug usage. However, the wild resources of Scutellaria plants have been overexploited, and...

Two new rakicidin derivatives from marine Micromonospora chalcea FIM-R160609
Li Chen, Lijun Xie, Wei Zhao, Jian Zhou, Honglei Jiang, Wei Liu, Hong Jiang & Feng Lin
The establishment of structure activity relationship (SAR) for rakicidin derivatives is pretty vital to develop rakicidins as a new type of anti-cancer agents. Herein, two novel rakicidin derivatives, compounds B1-1 (1) and B1-2 (2), a cyclic depsipeptide and a chain lipopeptide, respectively, were isolated from culture broth of Micromonospora chalcea FIM-R160609, and their structures were elucidated clearly by extensive NMR and HR-ESI-MS analyses. Following, their cytotoxic activities were evaluated against HCT-8 and PANC-1 human cancer...

A TOF spectrometer for neutron spectral measurements in a wide energy range base on a fast ionization chamber containing 6Li-235U
Bin Zhou, Songlin Wang, Zhiliang Hu, Fei Shen, Tiancheng Yi, Zhirong Zeng, Quanzhi Yu, Wen Yin, Xichao Ruan & Tianjiao Liang
To measure the neutron spectra in a wide energy range at the China Spallation Neutron Source (CSNS), a time of flight (TOF) neutron spectrometer based on a fast ionization chamber (FIC) containing 6Li and 235U has been developed. Verification experiments have been performed at the BL09 test beam line at the CSNS, which demonstrated that the measured neutron spectra, analyzed with a spectrum-splicing technique, ranging from sub-meV to 10 keV with a limited flight path....
Gamma-ray irradiation induced dislocation loops in hexagonal zirconium
Chengze Liu, Huan Li, Jianping Xu, Ge Wang, Xing Zhao, Bin Zhao & Jinping Wu
With doses simulating those received by spent nuclear fuel (SNF) facilities, gamma-ray (γ-ray) irradiation experiments were conducted on hexagonal zirconium. γ-ray irradiation–induced crystalline defects were observed in the hexagonal zirconium and characterized. Monte Carlo calculations combined with Transmission Electron Microscopy characterizations revealed that the energy of primary knock-on atoms could reach the threshold energy (Ed) of zirconium atoms and result in dislocation loops within the α-zirconium grains. The influence of γ dose on dislocation loop...

Circ_0072995 drives cervical cancer development by regulating the miR-29a/WDR5 axis
Zhenzhen Song & Hongyu Li
Circular RNA_0072995 (Circ_0072995) is involved in the pathogenesis of cancers; however, no study has investigated its role in cervical cancer. Therefore, we aimed to investigate the function of circ_0072995 in cervical cancer. Normal human cervical epithelial cells (hCECs), HeLa cells, and forty female nude BALB/c mice were used. Immunohistochemistry, invasion assays, flow cytometric analysis, luciferase assays, and tumour volume measurements were performed to explore the potential mechanism. Circ_0072995 was significantly up-regulated in cancer tissues, and...
Derivation and assessment of a sex-specific fetal growth standard

To derive a prescriptive sex-specific fetal growth standard and assess clinical management and outcomes according to sex-specific growth status. This was a secondary analysis of the Nulliparous Pregnancy Outcomes Study: Monitoring Mothers-to-Be (nuMoM2b), a prospective observational study of 10,038 nulliparas from eight U.S. centers who underwent ultrasounds at 14–20 and 22–29 weeks with outcomes ascertained after delivery. From these, we selected a nested cohort of lower risk participants (excluded those with chronic hypertension, pre-gestational diabetes,...
Neutralization of Omicron sublineages and Deltacron SARS-CoV-2 by three doses of BNT162b2 vaccine or BA.1 infection

Distinct SARS-CoV-2 Omicron sublineages have evolved showing increased fitness and immune evasion than the original Omicron variant BA.1. Here, we report the neutralization activity of sera from BNT162b2 vaccinated individuals or unimmunized Omicron BA.1-infected individuals against Omicron sublineages and “Deltacron” variant (XD). BNT162b2 post-dose 3 immune sera neutralized USA-WA1/2020, Omicron BA.1-, BA.2-, BA.2.12.1-, BA.3-, BA.4/5-, and XD-spike SARS-CoV-2s with geometric mean titres (GMTs) of 1335, 393, 298, 315, 216, 103, and 301, respectively; thus, BA.4/5...
TiO2 nanotube immobilised 5-lipoxygenase-mediated screening and isolation of anti-inflammatory active compounds from the leaves of lonicera japonica thunb
Jinhua Zhu, Danyang Zhou, Dandan Wu, Wei Liu & Xiuhua Liu
In this work, a highly effective separation approach mediated by 5-Lipoxygenase (5-LOX) was established for screening and isolation of anti-inflammatory ingredients from leaves of Lonicera japonica Thunb. (LLJT). Using 5-LOX immobilised on TiO2 nanotubes as a microreactor, the targeted screening was exploited by combining with HPLC-MS system. Four compounds confirmed as luteolin, luteoside, lonicerin, and isochlorogenic acid C and a fraction (M1) were screened out to be potent inhibitors of 5-LOX. Their anti-inflammatory activities were...
