Petrography and geochemistry of the Middle–Upper Jurassic Banik section, northernmost Iraq – Implications for palaeoredox, evaporitic and diagenetic conditions

Nagham Omar, Tom McCann & Ali I. Al-Juboury
Lithological, petrographic, and geochemical analysis of the Middle to Upper Jurassic succession (i.e. Sargelu and Naokelekan formations) from northernmost Iraq were undertaken. The aim was to provide an updated discussion for their sedimentary and diagenetic histories, as well as examine the evaporation proxies and palaeoredox conditions under which the Sargelu and Naokelekan formations were deposited. Lithologically, the Sargelu Formation comprises massive dolomites, interbedded with shales, rare cherts and one single limestone bed, whilst the Naokelekan...

Datasets to Weinmann et al.: Spatial distribution and diversity of benthic shallow-water foraminifera from Corfu Island (Greece, Ionian Sea): An island at the range front of an invasive species

Anna Weinmann, Olga Koukousioura, Maria Triantaphyllou & Martin Langer
Corfu Island (Greece) is located in the northern Ionian Sea and exhibits unique and diverse marine coastal habitats suitable for high diversity assemblages such as shallow-water foraminifera. The island also lies near the current range expansion front of the invasive species Amphistegina lobifera. We analyzed the foraminiferal assemblages of 51 samples from 25 sites around the island, calculated diversity indices, and analyzed the community structures of foraminiferal assemblages in comparison to local ecological variables. In...
