Yong-Guang Gao, Shu-Yuan Huangfu, Suryaji Patil, Quan Tang, Wan Sun, Yu Li, Zhong-Lin Lu & Airong Qian
A series of multifunctional compounds (MFCs) 1a–1e based on 1,8-naphthalimide and [12]aneN3 building blocks were designed and synthesized. They were used as not only fluorescent probes for recognition of Cu2+ ions but also as non-viral gene vectors for DNA and RNA delivery. Furthermore, their complexes with Cu2+ (1-Cu) could also selectively stain lysosome in HeLa cells. In order to achieve high performance multifunctional materials, structure-performance relationship of MFCs 1a–1e was studied. It was found that...

The role of DRP1 in ropivacaine-induced mitochondrial dysfunction and neurotoxicity

Yan Chen, Lili Yan, Yan Zhang & Xianhui Yang
Ropivacaine is a commonly used local anaesthetic, but its side effects remain largely unknown. In the present study, we investigated the side effects of ropivacaine in human neuronal SH-5Y5Y cells. We show that 0.5% and 1% ropivacaine could cause fission-like mitochondrial morphological changes. Ropivacaine exclusively induces mitochondrial fission protein DRP1, generation of ROS and causes mitochondrial dysfunction including decreasing mitochondrial membrane potential, the activity of cytochrome C oxidase and ATP production. The side effects of...

LINC00305 represses miR-124 expression to trigger inflammatory insults in the presence of lipopolysaccharide

Xiaoyan Li, Manqiu Yu, Liang Han, Lei Chen, Daxue Zhang, Guannan Zhou, Qiang Zhao & Taitao Sun
The anti-inflammatory function of microRNA-124 (miR-124) has been a matter of extensive studies in the last few years. Although LINC00305 regulates biological activities by acting as a miR sponge, it is still unexplored whether LINC00305 is involved in inflammation by regulating miR-124. Cell viability and apoptosis were evaluated with commercial kits, cell counting kit-8 (CCK-8) and Annexin V-fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC) kit, respectively. LINC00305, miR-124 and mRNA levels were quantified by quantitative reverse transcription PCR (qRT-PCR)....

Feng Rao, Zhipeng Yuan, Ming Li, Fei Yu, Xingxing Fang, Baoguo Jiang, Yongqiang Wen & Peixun Zhang
Peripheral nerve injury has troubled clinical doctors for many years. To obtain better function recovery of peripheral nerve repair at the base of hollow nerve guidance conduit (NGC), many NGCs with fillers were developed in the application of tissue-engineered nerve graft. In this study, expanded 3D nanofibre sponge scaffolds with orientation and porosity were first fabricated by electrospinning and gas-foaming technique. Polylactic acid (PLA)/silk fibroin nanofibre sponge scaffolds were prepared as filler to construct 3D...

Yan Liang, Jun han, Huaqin Wang, Bo Zhao, Linbo Qin & Yu Wang
In this paper, sugarcane bagasse was used as the raw material to produce hydrochar (HC) through the hydrothermal carbonization (HTC) process, then Ni and Mg were loaded on HC by the impregnation method. Thus, a serial of Ni-Mgx@HC core-shell structural catalysts for CO2 dry reforming were synthesized. In order to evaluate the application of Ni-Mgx@HC catalyst derived from sugarcane bagasse, the catalytic performance for CO2 dry reforming were investigated. Experimental results showed that the hydrochar...

Finite-element Analysis of Cotton Serrated Ginning State Based on Three-dimensional Braided Modeling

Di Wang, Xiaochuan Chen, Yong Li, Jun Wang & Yiping Qiu
In order to analyze the stress state of the seed cotton in the process of ginning cotton, a theoretical model for cotton, namely three-dimensional braided cotton was developed. The model consists of cotton fiber bundles arranged according to the unit cell structure of a three-dimensional four-directional braided composite material. The fiber bundle has a circular section and the shape of the cross section remains unchanged along the axial direction. Based on this model, the serrated...

De-Li ZhuGe, Li-Fen Wang, Rui Chen, Xin-Ze Li, Zhi-Wei Huang, Qing Yao, Bin Chen, Ying-Zheng Zhao, He-Lin Xu & Jian-Dong Yuan
Instability of silk fibroin nanoparticles (SFNPs) in physiologic condition hinders its application as drug delivery vehicle. Herein, indocyanine green (ICG) loaded silk fibroin nanoparticles (ICG-SFNPs) was firstly prepared and then crosslinked by proanthocyanidins to obtain the stable ICG-CSFNPs for killing the residual tumour niche under near infra-red irradiation (NIR) after surgery. The particle size and zeta potentials of ICG-CSFNPs was 120.1 nm and -40.4 mV, respectively. Moreover, ICG-CSFNPs exhibited good stability of particle size in...

Co-encapsulation of magnetic Fe3O4 nanoparticles and doxorubicin into biocompatible PLGA-PEG nanocarriers for early detection and treatment of tumours

Chenghua Liang, Nan Li, Zikai Cai, Rongpu Liang, Xiaoming Zheng, Li Deng, Longbao Feng, Rui Guo & Bo Wei
At present, cancer is the first cause of death for humans, but early detection and treatment can help improve prognoses and reduce mortality. However, further development of carrier-assistant drug delivery systems (DDSs) is retarded by the aspects such as the low drug-carrying capacity, carrier-induced toxicity and immunogenicity, complex synthesis manipulation. The development of nanoscale drug delivery systems (NDDS) have been rapidly developed to address these issues. In this article, we used PLGA-PEG with good biocompatibility...

The assessment of different vegetation indices for spatial disaggregating of thermal imagery over the humid agricultural region

Kai Liu, Shudong Wang, Xueke Li, Yao Li, Bo Zhang & Ruiting Zhai
Land surface temperature (LST) plays a significant role in surface water circulation and energy balance at both global and regional scales. Thermal disaggregation technique, which relies on vegetation indices, has been widely used due to its advantage in producing relatively high resolution LST data. However, the spatial enhancement of satellite LST using soil moisture delineated vegetation indices has not gained enough attention. Here we compared the performances of temperature vegetation dryness index (TVDI), normalized difference...

Experimental study on steam side vacuum capillary concentrated ethylene glycol aqueous solution

Liangwei Hao, Hao Wu, Hong Xu & Jun Cao
The separation system is designed to separate and concentrate the aqueous glycol solution under a low-temperature heat source. The experiment found that the pore size of the capillary wick, the verticality of the evaporator, as well as the degree of vacuum and the inlet flow rate of the working fluid are important factors for the success of the experiment. At a vacuum of 10 kpa and a flow rate of less than 5 mL/min, the...

Circular RNA 0047905 acts as a sponge for microRNA4516 and microRNA1227-5p, initiating gastric cancer progression

Zhiyong Lai, Yang Yang, Chaobing Wang, Wenhui Yang, Yichao Yan, Zhu Wang, Jun Xu & Kewei Jiang
Several lines of evidence suggest that circular RNAs (circRNAs) play important roles in oncogenesis and tumor progression. However, our knowledge of the role of circRNAs in gastric cancer (GC) remains limited. We investigated the possibility that circular RNA 0047905 (circRNA0047905) might act as a tumor promoter in the pathogenesis of gastric cancer by profiling miRNA expression in GC tissues and paired noncancerous mucosa tissues using miRNA microarrays. Next, a ceRNA network was constructed according to...
