Security Transaction Taxes and Market Quality
Pomeranets Anna & Daniel G. Weaver
We examine nine changes in the New York State Security Transaction Taxes (STT) between 1932 and 1981. We find that imposing or increasing an STT results in wider bidask spreads, lower volume, and increased price impact of trades. In contrast to theories of STT imposition as a means to reduce volatility, we find no consistent relationship between the level of an STT and volatility. We examine the propensity of traders to switch trading locations to...

V. Tessa Perry Evans
Multicultural/multiethnic grey literature is a concept first introduced and defined at the GL'95. Multicultural-multiethnic GL, although considered primary resources, have been fragmented and scattered or buried within other reports and documents making them difficult to identify and access. If these materials are to be of any real value, they must be located, organized, and made accessible to the communities they represent as well as to the general public. GL'95 presentations focused on the opportunities presented...
Folic acid-modified ROS-responsive nanoparticles encapsulating luteolin for targeted breast cancer treatment

Luteolin (Lut) is a natural flavonoid polyphenolic compound with multiple pharmacological activities, such as anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-tumor effects. However, the poor aqueous solubility and low bioactivity of Lut restrict its clinical translation. Herein, we developed a reactive oxygen species (ROS)-responsive nanoplatforms to improve the bioactivity of Lut. Folic acid (FA) was employed to decorate the nanoparticles (NPs) to enhance its targeting ability. The size of Lut-loaded ROS-responsive nanoparticles (Lut/Oxi-αCD NPs) and FA-modified Lut/Oxi-αCD NPs...
Classification and expression analysis of cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.) callose synthase (CalS) family genes and localization of CsCalS4, a protein involved in pollen development
Hongyun Wang, Shoujun Cao, Tao Li, Lili Zhang, Jiangang Yao, Xiubo Xia & Ruiqing Zhang
Callose plays an important role in plant development and response to multiple biotic and abiotic stresses. Callose synthase (CalS; EC 2.4.1.34), the main enzyme in callose synthesis, has been studied in a number of crops but not in cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.). In this study, 10 genes encoding putative callose synthase were identified and classified into four clades. Expression levels of the 10 CsCalS genes, which varied considerably, were detected in most analyzed organs. Transcription...
