In this paper, rhinoceros remains from Apulian sites of the late Pleistocene have been analysed. The majority of these remains have been attributed to Rhinoceros mercki by several previous authors and later to Stephanorhinus kirchbergensis. Fragmentary cranial bones of dinosaur origin have been recently recovered from the Kem Kem beds (Upper Cretaceous, Cenomanian) of Morocco. They include two incompletely preserved maxillary bones evidencing diagnostic features of abelisaurid theropods. These new finds provide further evidence of Abelisauridae in the Late Cretaceous of Morocco.

Sponges are, beside of scleractinian corals the most abundant reef building organisms in Norian-Rhaetian reefs or reefal limestones of Iran. The sponge fauna from a small biohermal reef structure near the town of Yazd is described. Tectonically it belongs to the so called "Yazd-Block". All described species are hypercalcified sponges, only one species of chambered hexactinellid was found. The chambered species Welteria lutensis n. sp. is described.
