A Search for Charm and Beauty in a Very Strange World

Jason Kamin
This thesis explores the dielectron spectra ind+Au collisions at √sNN = 200GeV. The d+Au system contains the cold nuclear matter in question but cannot create the required energy density to form a QGP, making it an ideal place to explore these effects. We present measurement of the production cross sections for charm and beauty (σc ̄c,σb ̄b) as well as testing the validity of next-to-leading order perturbative Quantum Chromodynamics (NLO pQCD).

Comparison between Polydioxanone and Polypropylene Sutures for Incisional Hernia during Midline Incisional Laprotomy Procedure among Pakistani patients

, , &
ABSTRACT Background: Midline incisional laprotomy is a very common surgical procedure adopted during general surgeries. Material employed for wound closure has a strong effect on the post-surgical outcomes including complications. Aim: To determine the superior suture material for abdominal wall closure after surgery among polydioxanone and polypropylene based on the post-operative length of hospital stay and development of incisional hernia. Study design: It was a randomized controlled trial. Methodology: All patients underwent midline incisional laparotomy...

Understanding Hard Interaction in QCD and the Search for the Gluon Spin Contribution to the Spin of The Proton

Amaresh Datta
In the following work, we present measurement of unpolarized cross sections and double helicity asymmetries of single inclusive positive and negative charged hadrons at mid-rapidity from p+p collisions at √s= 62.4 GeV. The cross section of charged hadrons discussed in this thesis along with the π0 cross section measurements at PHENIX at the energy of √s= 62.4GeV have indicated that the resummation of next-to-leading logarithmic terms may be relevant in describing the data at this...

ASSOCIATION OF LOW BIRTH WEIGHT OF NEONATES WITH MOTHERS LIVING IN TOBACCO SMOKE RESIDENTIAL ENVIRONMENT

Anum Ishfaq Sundas Nasrullah
Aim: To determine whether residential environmental tobacco smoke (ETS) exposure during pregnancy is associated with low birth weight (LBW) neonates and establish a dose response relationship. Design: Case control study. Setting: Study was conducted in department of Pediatrics and Obstetrics & Gynecology department of Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, Lahore for one-year duration from 1st August 2019 to 31st July 2020. Methodology: Mothers giving birth to a newborn LBW (3), multiple pregnancies and stillbirths. 100 cases...

SANIST-CIMS a tool for rapid and accurate product quality check

Simone Cristoni
The advent of new high-resolution mass spectrometry has opened new important frontiers especially in the profile analysis of molecular complex mixture. In fact, it is now possible to analyze thousands of molecular species per analysis. One of the most employed technique for this porpoises is Liquid Chromatography – Mass Spectrometry. Recently, the SANIST technological platform based on this technique integrated with Surface Activated Chemical Ionization/Electrospray (SACI/ESI) and a data elaboration system for compounds identification performed...
